Well in all technicality, Lovecraft kinda ripped the notion and idea behind the King in Yellow from Robert W. Chambers, but it's alright, he treated it right, so no one really complains, I sure don't.
Batman treats the Arkham Asylum name right, it's ok, At least it is for me. I'm both and avid Lovecraft fan, as well as a diehard Batman fan.

Well said Kingofdogs. Doesn't matter if they stole it last week or thirty years ago, HPL didn't give them permission to use it. But anyway, that's all I have to say about it... If I come across as offensive it is because I'm offended at how much Lovecraft has been robbed and diminished over the years Alx, what can i say really? That thar is madness. Do you go nuts when presented with things like the hecatomb or dreamscape series when they use every elder god and ritual they can spell out? Or when McFarlane figures of Dagon and Cthulhu pop up for sale? The H.P.Lovecraft historical society pays no royalties to any of his family (if he has any) as far as i know, and they create related stuff all the time (and most fans would agree they do it extremely faithfully, hell, even their xmas jokey album is ace.XD), as well as collaborating with outside artists creating things influenced by Lovecraft for their own financial gain. An Homage such as that in the Batman series is nothing but respect, and as you are getting at a supposed lack of respect then i suggest you actually research what you are raging at rather than shouting rape so easily and slating it when so so many things are actively shitting all over his works elsewhere.(Hello Cthulhu anyone? Fuzzy cuddly Dagon slippers and chibi Nyarlathoteps for your fishtanks?) Basically if you have no interest in the game(or anything Batman for that matter) then please stay out of the thread if all you are going to do is slander the teams who are doing nothing more than keeping alive one of the most faithful and honest homages to Lovecraft that exists in popular culture. One final note; If you shall be offended on behalf of Lovecraft then may i take this moment to be offended by him, in his whole life he was a rather twisted racist and firm believer in aryan supremacy and had no qualms about stating so, and for that he deserves a slap on the wrist more than he deserves people tongueing his gusset every day. [/ending pointless bullshit + getting back to the topic] ¬_¬ Bad thing to read after waking too early..XD I was thinking of this game last night and somehow, probably due to the whole stealthy vibe, got to thinking that this would kick bootay if the controls are as easy to get along with as in Tenchu..i fuckin' loved those games..

Got word from work on the collector's edition for the game. First, it's gonna be a hundred bucks...a hundred fucking dollars.
It will come with a soundtrack CD, a 12 inch Baterang (I have no idea how this will look/be.), bonus DVD, Custom DC Encyclopedia, and...a DLC pack for free.
I'm a sucker for Bats, so I'll buy it...
But seriously, this DLC bullshit has GOT to stop. FUCK paying for shit that's already coded into my game, fuck that in the ass.

Not a fan of DLC myself. Its one thing if its released a few months after the games released, but having packs planned on release is just (as you said) BS. Other then that though, the collector's edition sounds like a winner. Hope we get a edition like that in Aus.

Excuse the double post, but it has been awhile. GDC brought us some hands on previews of the game, and some new gameplay footage. The footage shows off one of the 'challenge room' maps, that come in 2 varietys (Stealth KO goons in a room, and Build/chain stylish combos in a room full of goons.). I've seen some talkback about this trailer, and it seems to be whats sold people on the game. Another preview i read, mentioned that apparently you'll see some wear and tear on the Bat's suit and face if he takes alot of damage through-out the game. Kinda cool, not anything new really, but cool all the same.

I'm a little late on this but I just have to... @ axl: and thus I'm called a "little fanboy". I just need to be called "religious extremist" now and my life will be complete. (I'm agnostic btw). I knew about the Asylum being part of Lovecraft's mythos (learned a couple of years ago, actually), but I just couldn't for the life of me connect you were talking about that with your first post. I've never seen anyone talking about it the way you did before. And you seemed angry at me and I was like "wtf?". Don't be so extreme and eager to jump to conclusions about people. I'll leave it at that. Now let's hold hands. About the video: I liked what I saw. It must be fun going around the building sneaking on people, causing chaos and stuff. I liked the explosive gel ahaha. I just hope the PC version doesn't come broken, because that's a nasty tendency with PC games as of late.

If I come across as offensive it is because I'm offended at how much Lovecraft has been robbed and diminished over the years You are aware that Lovecraft actively encouraged others to borrow ideas, right? Its one of the most notable things about him as an author. Oh, and for what it's worth, Arkham Asylum has been part of the DCU since 1974. About the game, I'm fully expecting it to suck hard. Though I'll admit the collector's edition has some cool stuff in it. I found a summery that includes a photo here.

Arkham Asylum has nothing to do with Batman. Note that the city of Gotham isn't anywhere near Arkham. Sorry, but this is nothing but a RIPOFF of an otherwise excellent mythos Sorry, but that's just silly and misinformed, a referance or homage like that isn't a rip-off. Now I will laugh at you 'BA HAHAHAHAHAHA!" *point, point* Okay I am done

Man, the demo kicked serious ass. I played a demo of the freeflow combat before, which was cool, but this demo actually shows you how the meat of the game will play. And it's damn awesome.
Also, on the old subject of the Bat's eyes having pupils through his cowl, I can answer the reason for that now. When he slips on his detective mode in the cowl, then the eyes are whited out, like we're used to seeing. When it's not on you can see his pupils.
