It is now playing at the theatre down the street. I shall see it Saturday and much spoilers are to be had!
Mansell's score is on iTunes and it is amazing!
The epic music from the trailer isn't on there but a portion of it is. Shame
But still, another classic from Mansell

Finally saw it. It was good. Raised some good ethical questions. Good flick. Apparently the director wants to do a trilogy in this universe. I dunno, considering how the film ended I don't know how it'll play out past the first flim. When Sam was roaming around searching for the jammers did anyone else expect him to come upon another Sarang-like base?
Since Lunar Industries is cloning people I wouldn't put it past them to have multiple bases to speed up H3 development.
Also, I like how the base has English and Korean all over it. Reminds me of Firefly [spoiler/]

I don't think this movie will come to any theater around here. I guess I'll have to wait for the DVD. ;_;

Some questions I have after I've had some time to mentally digest the movie *Do you think each clone lasted 3 years?
I don't think they did be cause they had hundreds down in that tunnel. If each one lasted 3 years they would need a MAX of 2 backup in case something went wrong.
*What caused the clones to deteriorate?
My guess is radiation. The moon has no atmosphere and no way to block the natural radiation of space/sun. Lunar Industries prolly knew that spending more than 2 years up there would be a death sentence to who ever worked up there so if they could just pop out a clone that knew what to do why not do it? Cut down on costs, training times, etc
Second guess was something in the food/water. Several times GERTY asked Sam if he could make him something to eat/drink.
*Do you think GERTY knew if each Sam was incinerated at the end of the contract?
GERTY obviously knew each Sam was a clone and GERTYs mission is to help Sam in any way possible I think the incinerator was a mercy killing for each clone. Instead of dying a slow horrible death as your body falls apart you're instantly (and I imagine given the incinerators quickness) painlessly killed.
*Could you do Sams contract?
You know, minus the whole dying and radiation thing. Say those things weren't an issue: Would you do it? 3 years on the moon solely by yourself?
I could do it. Just give me let me bring my music library and my book collection and I could do it. Plus you'd prolly make a great chunk of change.

Hell yeah, I'd do it too! I feel like I already did when I lived in my studio apartment. You could learn another language, or just read everything!

From personal experience with isolation, i go a bit batty after then 10 day mark. Thats very limited human contact (phone conversation, basicly what Gerty would provied). Id like to think i could do it, but i'd probably be dead befor the 8 month mark (i'm kinda clumsy too).
Finally got to see the film today, got realeased localy this past week, and only 4 cinemas in the state are showing it. Had to make a bit of a trip to see it. Mansell's score was brilliant, added a nice atmosphere to the film, but it did feel a bit repetative. That said, i started hearing it on my way back to the train station. Then i listined to the soundtrack on the ride home.
I think i might have read a little too much about the film leading into it. I was there trying to figuer out twists, formulating theories. Who's who, Who's in control, Who can be trusted. It might have dampened the experience a little. Great film, and the get the feeling it'll do better on a repeat viewing. Rockwell's Performance was great. Man deserves trophies!

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. The score was awesome! I also felt like it was kind of repetitive, but perhaps this is due to the limited number of characters and locations? Anyway, I also read too much b4 hand, and the surprise wasn't very much of a surprise to me. Also, the trailer seems like a spoiler...

I guess it could be radiation or something, but I got the impression (and it's been a while, so forgive any mistakes) that the Original Sam actually did serve 3 years up there, which is where the Original videos from his wife came from. But Sam appears to be back on Earth alive. Of course, it's possible that Sam never went up there and he and his wife were simply paid a bomb of money to be part of it, though.
I came out of the movie thinking that the cloning technology simply wasn't good enough to keep a clone alive for more than 3 years once awakened.
It also just occured to me that giving him a ping pong table is actually a bit harsh when he's all alone for 3 years. Way to rub it in.

Shortly after posting here last time, i went onto IMDB. Theres a pretty comprihensive post in there with theories and evidence as to what happened and how things could play out. Its a good read, i missed quite a few small things that could have rather large impacts on the story. Here's a link But it might spoil some of the fun. I though i had a good grasp, but didn't entirely make out the end audio, so i went looking for it there.

I liked the movie. The score was great. Good acting. The robot companion was charming.
But I thought the story would blow me away. Well, I could predict almost everything that was going to happen. When the 2 characters met I already knew what they were. Soon I knew what was happening and how it would probably end. It felt like I've seen that exact story before. Hmm...
Still, good cinematography and an overall solid flick.

What Blackswordsman said pretty much sums it up for me.
Everything about it was pretty awesome but it didn't blow me away. Still very, very good. Better than most of the shit that's released today.

I must say the only surprise I had was that the robot was not a "villain" and even helped! The trailer gave me HAL vibes.
