I finally finished the game, but not without a whole lot of problems, including the game crashing my entire system on several occasions.
I made sure my system specs were up to snuff, even buying a new, compatible video card. My system meets or exceeds every requirement for this game.
I had to buy it through Steam, which I am not at all happy about.
Several times during the game it would freeze or run extremely slowly (start, stop, start, stop, etc.), the colors would go all wonky, and it would then crash my whole system, giving me a blue screen for a nano-second (not nearly enough to read any of the details as to why).
Other times the video would be zipping by at double the speed of the audio. Playable, but irritating. This occurred at totally random intervals. Sometimes it would happen upon loading, other times it would happen suddenly in the middle of play.
Once during the game it kept crashing to the desktop when I tried to enter a certain area, and I eventually had to go back to an earlier save.
So has anyone else had any of these problems on PC, especially those who bought the game through Steam?
Other than all these problems, I really enjoyed the game. I'd love to play it over and over (especially since I got that sweet laser pistol), but I'm not sure if I want to deal with system crashes and Speedy Gonzalex over and over again.
ETA: Oh, I forgot to mention one other problem: several times the game just refused to load at all. It would give me an ABORT error every time. Usually I had to shut down and restart my system, but one time I had to completely uninstall and redownload the game. Not cool.
