UNMARKED SPOILERS REGARDING PREVIOUS METAL GEAR SOLID GAMES
READ AT OWN RISKI'm sure by now we've all heard/seen the Kojima Productions teaser countdown page. the one with the country field, and the storm clouds, that eventuly started raining, and everytime the lightning claped close to the screen we'd see a mystery letter pop up. and Now theres only 115 hours to go on the count down. new letters are flashing and a familiar face has to. Big Boss? Dissapointing. Enough with the drama, i know theres metal gear fans here, and i want to talk this through. There are Famitsu scans about, and a interview with Hideo that drop some clues our way. Its not Big Boss, but another Damn Clone, who apparently played a roll in MGS1,2 and 4. The scans also show off what looks like Raiden popping up in the timer too. With Cyborg/Snatcher ninja getup to boot. Taking place Pre-Guns of the Patriots? since he got fitted with another body in one of MGS4 mind numbing endings. and its not just one Game, but 2. One for the PSP and one for the PS3.

Hmm, well any new Metal Gear is good news to me, so long as it's not on a goddamn mobile phone. I have both a PSP and a PS3...so hey.

same here, and i got a iPhone. and as much as i love metal gear, there were things in 4 that bothered me. thing i hope wont continue into the next title. but probably will. although, interestingly, Kojima is saying these are being made for japanese audiences. might make this a bit more interesting.
must remember to go to TUS, see what there saying about this too. But there alot of complainers there too (much like me)

I used to go to TUS, back when MGS3 was new. They pissed me off there, so I quit coming around.
They also had a clan for MGO (MGO classic, not modern), which I almost joined...but then played a game with some of them and found them to be ignorant asses.

yeah, There are some knowledgable people there, or there was once. but now, theres a lot of haters, who bitch on single points and refuse to see other sides of things. Had a glance, and they've got a tread on the 'next' page, with a hundred or so pages to it. didn't look like they were saying anything interesting though.

I've been hearing that it will be two game announcements.
One will prolly be Portable Ops 2 and deals with Big Boss' formation of The Patriots and eventual fight against.
The other......?
Metal Gear Raiden? I dunno. It'd be nice if they explained what the hell happened to Raiden in between MGS2 and MGS4 (Rescuing Sunny, Big Mama, etc)

timers been updated again, haven't been writing down all the letters i'm seeing now, but theres definatly a O/0 and a 6 there now. also 'Raiden' has appeared too. Read cept, i'm willing to agree with some speculation, it dosent entirely look like raiden.

Current popular theory is that its a Metal Gear (NES) remake.
I hope not. Remakes, in general, show how lazy a company is becoming

Current popular theory is that its a Metal Gear (NES) remake. I hope not. Remakes, in general, show how lazy a company is becoming I strongly disagree with that. Especially when a game franchise is as old as Metal Gear is. Kojima can look back and think "There's a lot of ideas and things I wanted the original Metal Gear to be, that is just could not be at the time." And thus make his original vision a proper reality with modern technology. If anything, a company like Kojima Production is anything but lazy in saying they'd like to remake an NES/MSX game. That's showing they're looking back at the series and thinking about reinventing it. It's not always this way, but damn man, it's been a long ass time since MG was released. Kojima could do a LOT with the game now. Hell, if that'd happen, I'm all for it. In fact thinking on it, I almost hope that does happen.

^ i don't. i'm kinda against the remakes, mainly because i'm getting a little tired of all the (sometimes) little changes they make to the series history. They don't change things dramaticly (normall anyway), its just makes me keep thinking they need to move on from the series already. But hell, its kojima's universe, he can do what ever the hell he wants with it, and i'll still probably buy it.
Countdown page update, theres about 14 hours left on it, and the rains stoped, a 8/B is fading in and out of the background now. i watched it for a little while, nothing else seemed to happen. I'm kinda dissapointed, i wanted to see something/someone standing in the field when the storm passed.

The catch is, Kojima said this game is going to be a completely different style of gameplay. Frankly, I'd have rather had that remake we were discussing.\
We could have played Metal Gear without the horrible translation, and botched gameplay of the original MSX release. And we could have gotten to explore the origins of Frank Jaeger, something I've been hoping would have been more thoroughly covered in a game by now.
See, it'd be hard to screw it up. The NES version was a huge screw up to begin with, and Kojima himself has said numerous times that he is anything but proud of it. ANYTHING could make it better. And it could completely fill the gap between MG and MGS. Face it, 60%+ of fans of the series have never played the original MG, and started with MGS. A remake wouldn't hurt this series in the least bit.

i've played the originals *hugs his 3-disk Subsistence set*. them games were freakin hard. I remember when i was playing the first Solid game, i sat down about half way threw the game, and read all the backstory listed there. It was a great read.
Suppose we might find out more about the new game(s) tomorrow (or is it later today already in the USA). I'll be interested to see what kind of game this is. Maybe we'll be getting a more Tenchu style stealth game. Hopefully featuring some flashbacks too, to Sunnys Rescue and other Pre-Techno Raiden. Though isn't a numbered entry.
Countdowns been a bit of a fizzer really, it should have revealed something more then there E3 page. An exclusive trailer, artwork, something more then the same shot of Raiden from the countdown, only now with added title.

alright, we now officaly have Peace Walker for the PSP. And its being touted as Kojima's First PSP game. (he had next to no involvement with PO). Still light on the details, but its set after the events of Portable Ops, and sounds like its not long befor the events of Outer Heaven. A strange Army becomes active in parts of Costa Rica, and the Soldiers without Borders are approached to get rid of them. Trailers interesting enough, a bit of game play is shown, looks good. I'm curious to how similar to Portable Ops or Guns of the Patriots it might play. I'm guessing Solider Recruitment is in, since we see the Old Man attach a Parachute to a soliders back and he gets extracted from the area (I think something similar happened in the PO multiplayer if you wanted to save a solider).
edit: i just realised, there have been Kojima Production Reports for the 1st and 2nd days of E3. There's just alot of talk, nothing really new. They don't even mention Rising being multiplatform. But, the big thing is, there saying theres more tomorrow. a third Metal Gear title? or maybe the Castlevania : Lord of Shadows? or maybe even a Kojima directed sequel to Flower?
