I just hope this is better than the first movie...
I enjoyed watching the movie the first time around, but then I noticed just how messed-up the story was. So inaccurate. I guess I'm only really mad because I'm such an Alessa fan. (Dark Alessa...?)
If this is better than the first movie, then I'm as happy as a unicorn prancing on a rainbow. Or something to that effect.

I'm a huge Alessa fan as well. Always have been. She's probably my favorite character of all time next to one other.
I felt they did her fairly well though. Aside from the Urotsukidoji (I recall this being the literal influence for the barbwire rape scene!) moment, I agreed mostly with her character portrayal. Especially when she danced in the rain of blood! So adorable~
Really though, the biggest problem with the first movie was Sean Bean's character (Although it was well done it was unnecessary as a whole) and how in some aspects the cult was portrayed. Also the dialogue was awkward sometimes but I can't give the script that much shit. It wasn't amazing but it wasn't wretchedly horrible either.
I still say, the movie takes an SH2 tone, NO CULT (PLEASE) or take the route of the dog!

One thing in the sequal's favor is the fact that the cult are now dead save for outcast Dahlia. So hopefully that would be enougth to convice the writters that the cult story is over, unless they they either do a prequal or have a cult reserection story, but I doubt they would do that since prequals and reserection stories never turn out good (Just look at the Alien films)
If these guys are really out for a good investment (and they are) they should know that SH2 is the most popular of the games and therefore will do something around that, I would even go as far to say it's almost guaranteed that's what they will do

I don't think the cult is dead exactly. That portion of the cult, obviously. But they were trapped in that world for what they had done.
Like, yea, it's possibly that in the movie world that was the only part of the cult. However, I think it still lives, kind've like how the cult started to reform in Homecoming after Walter had essentially put an end to the cult for a while.
I also hope they don't use my logic or some other form of logic to use the cult again in the movie ~ ~
Maybe if they did a third movie (I had heard they wanted to make a trilogy out of the movie series) they do it similar to the games. It'd be interesting to see them in some form or another continue the story of the first movie.
But not for the second. They need to make a REAL story out of the second movie.
I think we all obviously agree on that more or less.

I think the reasoning for this is that because the movie wasn't made solely for Silent Hill fans they had to incorporate someone to tell the background to the story so those who have never played the game wouldn't get confused. Understandable really, if they never knew Sharon wasn't their biological daughter they would never have guessed it from the story and the plot wouldn't make any sense.

Well, apparently Roger Avery, although penned to write the script, is indeed in some hot water:
On January 13, 2008, Avary was arrested under suspicion of manslaughter and DUI, following a car crash in Ojai, California where a passenger, Andreas Zini, was killed. The Ventura County Sheriff's department responded to the accident after midnight Sunday morning on the 19-hundred block of East Ojai Avenue. Sheriff's deputies allege Avary's wife was ejected from the car, but she is reportedly in stable condition. Avary was released from jail on $50,000 bail.[14]
In December, 2008, he was charged with, and pleaded not guilty to, gross vehicular manslaughter and two felony counts of causing bodily injury while intoxicated.[15] He later changed his plea to guilty on August 18, 2009.[16]
I don't know what kind of sentence that carries, but it can't be good. I certainly wish that wouldn't have happened, but I would very much like someone else to write SH2, as I thought the script was the worst part of the first movie. Hopefully not someone who will do worse.
Hope they use the same set decorator!

Looks good cant wait for it to coem out as long as its based off of the sh2 storyline. But because of that screw up with PH in the first movie im not shure how there going to show off PH as well as they did in the second game.

Yeah, it wouldn't have as much power huh? And it would be rather disappointing to have a Sh2 movie without PH...

Actually, I think that, considering all of the PH ripoffs and bad inclusions, an Sh2 movie without PH might be refreshing.

They could go with the OG PH design. That would be kinda cool, however people who weren't in the know might be like WTF?! He was definitely smaller back then...

you know, at this point, is there really any chance that the next silent hill movie will be at all better than the first? i mean when they started the first film team silent was still around, but now it's gone. there's just Akira Yamaoka, and we know that a Collaberation with him doesn't necessary mean success (he gave the first film and homecomming his blessings)
So in order for a deceant film we are looking for a director that can come and look at the game series and come to an understanding that surpasses Akira's, well what's the likelyhood of that happening?
Unless a mirracle happens and old team silent members such as Keiichirō Toyama picth in, the only people who can truly understand silent hill are the people who were in controll the franchise when it in it's early stages

Point definitely taken. I think it is an extremely small chance of a good SH sequel. They don't have to put as much into sequels (not always so) because the name will draw the crowd. The first one didn't exactly make a ton of money did it? So they will probably set the budget even lower. Not that that would matter if they had a really good and inventive director. And even though Akira was involved in the first movie, I doubt his impact on it was very much. Sure his stuff was in the soundtrack, but when it comes down to it, it is the studio making decisions on their investment. Maybe, just maybe, something good will come out of it. Otherwise we will have to wait for the ultimate fan film SH like all those LOTR nerds made.

Uwe Boll: Hello, I hear you are making a Silent Hill sequel. I would like to direct. It have lots of explosions and boobies. OR Michael Bay: Instead of Pyramid Head, we could have a giant robot disguised as a car and it can cause lots of explosions
