I've only had time for one session with it so far (got up to the highschool). When the ice takes over, I end up just running like mad, shaking off enemies. Am I supposed to try to sneak around and stay hidden first? Given that enemies show up as moving dots on the map, and that there are hiding places, this thought only just occurred to me so I haven't had a chance to put it in practice. Also, knowing that nothing at all can really hurt me in between the ice stages kind of makes it a little less scary in those bits. It's all right, but I get the feeling I'm not liking it as much as I should. Maybe I just need to spend more time with it.

Silent Hill Solid? I'm still waiting for my copy for the PSP... but sadly it's the first time I'm not THAT bothered for the delay of a Silent Hill game, after 10 years and 5 sequels/prequels.
Does anybody have already played the PSP version? I don't want a Wii!!!

I finished the game last night. I made a short post about it on Facebook this morning, which I'll repost here:
Then, in response to Tabris saying he'd be playing later in the day:

I'm warming up to it more as I spend more time with it. There's definitely no sneaking in the ice world, those hiding spots are useless. But the introduction of specific objectives seemed to be just the thing to break the "run, run, run" pattern. Although I'm starting to like that more too, even if the enemies don't exactly vary that much in appearance, at least so far. And even though there are no enemies in the "real" Silent Hill, it's still effectively creepy to the point where I've caught myself saying, "I can't be hurt here. I can't be hurt here. I can't be hurt here. . . ."

I played a pretty good chunk of the PS2 version last night. I have to say I really love it. It feels like an interactive movie or something.
I've noticed some weird glitches in the shadows though. Sometimes Harry's flashlight would start vibrating like crazy too. One puzzle glitched too a little but I won't mention it to avoid a minor 'spoiler' if you want to call it that.
A small spoiler below here
I noticed a small difference between the Wii and PS2 versions. I remember on the Wii version after you beat a nightmare sequence you'd see a bridge covered in ice and it'd twist back into reality. It doesn't do that on the PS2 version. I was really hoping they'd be able to get a neat effect like that in. Oh well~
Makes me want the Wii version more I guess hah.

I finished it two days ago, maaaaan, it's so goooood! And now, playing it again, some stuff is different to a very noticeable degree. Also, alternative pathways! I didn't even notice that the first time!

I beat it last night. Wow, what a kick in the balls twist. So beautiful though.
This game is more cinematic than anything. It's also pretty damn easy and straight forward once you figure it out.
Hell of an experience though.
I started playing it again too. Quite a bit different but I'm not sure how far it'll go yet.

I think I'm going to hold off on a replay for a little bit, but I'm going to try loaning it to a non-SH fan friend of mine to see what he thinks.
This is assuming I can pull him away from Mass Effect 2.

I beat it the other day and I'm about halfway or so through a second go 'round. Good show, Climax! I think my favorite thing about it is something that I always wanted in a Silent Hill game, but which was never delivered except the one time in Homecoming: most of the time, the "shift" occurs either totally or partially in mid-gameplay, rather than just showing it in a cutscene. It made me look back at all the other SH games and say, "Yeah! That's what I wanted! See? How hard was that?"
My only complaints: 1. The hiding places and "enemy dots" on the map are useless. Running your ass off is fine, but there's no reason to pretend there's any real strategy in it.
2. I wish there'd been some real incentive (like unlockable extras of some sort) to make all the extra effort collecting mementos, taking pictures etc. There's no real point in having you save your game at the end of the credits when you're not gonna be rewarded and you even have to collect all that stuff again.
Other than that, great game!

I am enjoying it so much... I won't exagerate saying it's absolutely beautiful, but It's much more than what I expected. The plot is quite a ride, it's maybe even as complex as the one we saw in SH2, the psychological twists and turns feel like a twisted nipple...
All in all, Bravo.
