So with the new name comes the need for a new look; Whoooohoooo makover! Etc. I have a few sitting on my laptop and cannot access them currently, but in a fit of crazyass abandon I had a go at making some new skins. To try them out simply go into the "Modify Profile" section in your profile, and select the skin you want to use. The above are; MurkySHF SHFnewStatic SHFBloody Comment and critique away, though do bear in mind these come from nothing more than ms paint and I only went as far as my retinas could take. What I would really like to see, is a few of you lot having a go at making a nice shiny background/header for us, so if anyone reckons they can make something that does us more justice; go for it and let us all have a lookie.

The static one is a little overpowering but I like the other two. I've set the bloody one as my theme.

Some reading for using type on the web: webtypography.net/intro/It's a bit wordy, but it should help for readability most. You can probably ignore the rest of it. As far as using a graphics editing program: GIMP. SHFBloody: the breadcrumb links at the top get lost in the red of the background. The white and black make for a good and easy-to-read contrast, but it's almost too harsh. I'd suggest a slightly dimmer white, maybe something in the DDDDDD range or around there. I like the size of the icons, but maybe a white one for read sub-forums and a red one for unread threads or vise versa. SHFnewStatic: the breadcrumb is completely lost in the static and were it not for the color, I'd have never noticed it. The default type in the CSS definitely needs to change, possibly to the "Verdana, Arial, sans-serif;" that many of the others have instead of a serif font. It's difficult to tell the diference between bolded unread thread titles and normal ones. The gray feels out of place in the table backgrounds, but with the static, it's difficult to recommend a palette that'd work well with it. MurkySHF: Like the color palette, although again the breadcrumb visibility can be an issue with the yellow-orange text and the background colors. This suffers from the same text problem as SHFnewStatic, however. Not as bad, but still causes a little eye-strain. Those're my thoughts on it all. It's been a while since I've done some design work, but I'll do some plotting and planning sometime soon.

SHFMurky is my favorite by far although the font looks strange on the brown colors =/

I find myself preferring the original skin, but I can't seem to get back to it. Default gives me the default ProBoards layout, and DefaultSHFO gives me a black and purple scheme with red text.

@ Cenobite - The "Original" one that I had set the place to is SHFOstatic. It could be easily confused with SHFnewStatic I suppose, sorry. @ DWZ - Thanks! And I agree, the font didn't really work, changed it back to the standard font and it certainly is easier on the eyeglobes. @ Alone - Wow, thanks for the critique and info! As I said before, these are the fruits of a night and morning of using MS paint, this is because I am using a guest computer and cannot install any other programs. I do have a lot more already made on my laptop which will hopefully actually be fixed sometime soon, and I am quite sure everyone would find those much more appealling and less....well....painty.XP @ lolli - Thanks, I'm glad you like one enough to use it! I agree the static one is a bit nuts, but I do like the idea so I may have a play with it sometime to make it easier to look at. @ Kiryū Kazuma - Cheers! Thanks for the comments everyone, and again, if anyone else wants to try their hand at it then post! Perhaps a contest should be in order...hmmm

I've got a nice little solution to that "can't install problem" if you've got a nice little flash drive: Portable GIMP at portableapps.com.

I actually kinda miss the old gray theme. Gray is an easy color on the eyes for me. Problem is, I played around with the skins, now I can't get the old gray one back.
EDIT: I'm an idiot, got it back. I like the designs of most all of the new skins, but I like this gray skin the best...it's just easier on my eyes.

I recommend trying something like this www.silenthillfever.com/The Origins cover and other such rustic phantom looks would be the perfect balance, I think. I also recommend making it the default because the current default isn't appealing to guests or those looking for a good SH forum.

Ahhh yes, now it's a perfect skin The font looks so much better now, I'm not even sure what it was that irked me. It was too ... jagged ... ? ... <_< Thanks for changing the font and making the cool skins, Pseudo!!

I do like the shiny-ness, (especially the first one - the font style and the pic really mesh well), but let's take out the "otherworld" word, this forum is now to be known as just SHF, not SHF:O, not SHF: Otherworld.

Personally, I like the Otherworld name.
