RULES
General conduct/posting
1. This forum is aimed at people aged 18 and over and so a degree of swearing or lighthearted lewd comment is permissable, we do however ask that you refrain from gratuitous use of profanity, or persistent and possibly threatening behaviour towards other members or staff. Any behaviour that could be considered inappropriate or threatening will result in actions ranging from a warning, to a full ban.
2. Don't make a post/thread announcing your incredible post count or otherwise acting as though post counts matter. A person with few posts could have said a thousand times more than the most prolific pseudo-spammer, what matters is quality and so if you want a reason to feel smug, contribute loads of awesome stuff.
3. If you would like to have/change a custom title, simply post in the thread here; silent-hill-forums.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=shf&action=display&thread=5 , and a member of staff will change it for you.
4. This is not a dating site or a place to come if you simply hope to hook up, please refrain from treating it as such. If you wish to get to know a member better and there is no topic relevant then contact them via private message. ( We want no soap-style dramas on the boards, cheers.)
5. Racism, sexism, freaky terrorism/guerilla style riling of the masses, or religious flame-bait of any kind will not be tolerated. Your views are your own, but we are a very spread out community and some people will be hurt or offended by some views, we will thank you to respect that. A level of religious debate can of course work well, but it will be down to every member to keep it as civil as possible.
6. If someone comes here and asks for help, please give them a sensible answer or point them in the right direction. Don't make fun of them simply because they are new or don't know much about the series. We were all noobs once and probably made some cringeworthy cockups ourselves.....not me though of course, I am divine.
7. If you can't say nuffin' nice, don't say nuffin' at all. This is a friendly community, and why waste time posting just to aggrivate something when you can simply ignore it or comment to your cat about it eh?
8. When you post artwork or literature that is not your own, try to credit it to the original artist or author, otherwise state that it is not your own work but that you do not know its creator.
9. Do not post links to OST downloads and the like; we will not condone piracy, no matter how awesome pirates may be.
Sig and Avatar Guidelines
1. We all like to have schmexy sigs and avvies, but we also would like to be able to load and read through threads now and then, so we have some rules for the sizes;
- Avatars - Avatars must be no more than 100x100 px, if it exceeds this then it can be scaled down via your 'modify profile' page, but you will most likely lose some quality in the image.
-Signatures - You may use a maximum of 400 characters in your sig.
- Try to keep the size of your sig within 426 x 173 px, this way everyone can see it and think it's shiny, but it won't assault the eyes or take up too much space.
2. We know it's hard, but try to avoid using obscene or pornographic images or quotes in your sig or avatar, it's pretty much common sense.
3. Out of consideration to people with epilepsy or similar conditions, please do not use flashing avatars or sigs.
4. General business advertising is not allowed anywhere on the forum and will be treated as spam. You can of course include links to your site or advertise your stuff, but if you try to sell people a house, car, or wife then we will probably look upon you in suspicion and disappointment.
Staff conduct and reporting
1. If you feel that a member of staff has taken inappropriate action or acted unfairly/unprovoked, you may take steps to resolve this issue. We ask that you do not simply create a thread about it without first contacting the member of staff in question, and other staff if it would make you more comfortable to do so. Making a thread such as this with no previous attempts to rectify the matter will result in the thread being locked, and a warning being issued.
a) Send a PM to the staff member that you believe acted unfairly. State your case in clear, polite terms. See if you can resolve the issue with the staff member first rather than creating topics straight away. If you are not sure which staff member to message, you can send your message to any member of staff who may be online at that time, or to myself (Pseudo).
b) If you can not resolve the issue with the staff member in question, you may then contact myself (Pseudo) to state a full complaint for consideration. Your complaint will be posted on the staff only board for review by other staff members and once a final decision has been made regarding the situation, you will be informed via PM.
c) If you have a complaint regarding the actions or decisions of myself (Pseudo), then please contact either Vio or Vaco Deus. And as always, please be as clear and to the point as you can.
2. Never shall a staff member ask you for your password. It should be very easy to tell if someone was to impersonate staff or members, but even so we ask that you do not throw around your personal information or any kind of passwords here. If you have been asked to reveal such information or made similarly suspicious by any member or member of staff then please contact myself or other staff asap.
3. If you want to report a post
a) In the event that you see a post you think breaks a rule or could be offensive/distasteful, look to the bottom right of the member's post next to 'Link to Post' and click 'Report to Mod.
b) Be sure to include a valid reason for your report, even if you think the reason is blatantly obvious.
c) The staff will review each report and, if necessary, you shall be contacted to discuss the outcome or for additional details.
d) Please refrain from using the report feature unless you think it is an actual infraction.
Repeated reports without proper justification or any abuse of the system may result in a warning or loss of privileges
In short; try to treat this place with the respect which you feel it deserves, and if you feel it could be improved upon then by all means, contribute many shiny things, or even suggest something to staff/members here; silent-hill-forums.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=shf
Enjoy SHF responsibly!
