! Seems like they're scraping the first movie. Fine by me. It wasn't horrible but I I forgot about it quickly and never watched again. You know, I dislike the 3D fad (mainly because it's being pushed down our throats with no mercy) but being 3D doesn't automaticaly means being bad. Also, there will never be an "artistic, mature psychological drama" epic oscar winning Silent Hill movie. I'm fine with a simple good movie. After the acting and story of the first, all I want from this one is: 1- don't crap on the game's mythology, be faithful to what SH is and how it works and the story of the game - changing is always acceptable as long as it doesn't go to far. 2- Great and haunting visuals and sound. There. Something I can enjoy with others and not be embarassed. Also, I won't miss Roger Avary.

I'm skeptical but I'm refraining judgment when it comes to such minimal details.
As well as refraining judgment on 3D. Anything about this movie has the potential to be amazing just as it has to fail.
We've seen nothing more than a small plot line, a subtitle and that it'll be in 3D.
Although this is Silent Hill we're talkin about. So let us tear it apart before we really know anything as always!

SH FANS! Enter attack mode immediately! Attack!!! Grumble!!! Cursing!!!! 3d!!!!! more Cursing!!!! I don't know what to make of this really. 3D isn't necesarily a bad thing, its not like they only release films in 3d, there's normally 2d sessions as well. Though, i'm not sure how well Fog works in 3D. There was a scene from How to Train your Dragon, and i think it ended up just looking like a solid object. I though the first film managed to get the atmosphere down really well, but then the story didn't know how faithful it wanted to be. its like they actually tried to work some puzzles in to the story in the form of obstacles. Then again, i've been saying that about almost all the recent Silent Hill projects, that i'm not sure what to make of them. Part of me wants the franchise to end, But in this day and age, nothing ends, it just gets rebooted. I'll end up seeing this. Just hope they give us something to be optimistic about.

I'll need to shove those butt-ugly uncomfortable supposedly-3D glasses on my noggin for this?
Crappity crap, but other than that, if they keep it at the same level as the first one, it will be ok. If they actually have a decent script this time around, who knows, it might turn out better than expected.

I was barely able to sit through the first film a second time, I was gravely dissapointed except for a few moments. My hopes aren't much higher for this. With Heather in the picture, I wonder if this movie will be a sequel to the first, or explain what happened in the first game similar to how the third game did. Either way, I have low expectations.
Also, the title Revelation sounds like a title they'd give a Resident Evil movie, and the only 3D I like the idea of is for the 3DS. I don't see why they're going in for this fad. What made the first two Silent Hills great was how they bucked certain trends within video games (not including the way the gameplay was handled).

On one hand we have original character names and a lack of Roger Avery, but on the other hand there's the fact it's 3D. I hate 3D with a passion because I hate the thought of ramming those stupid glasses on my face just to see something fly at me in very bad CGI.
But as always I will give it the benefit of the doubt, afterall Heather is one of the more interesting protagonists in the series. I pray to God they don't mess her up and transform her into some whiny, sterotypical blonde. And as long a Claudia, Vincent and Douglas are present I'll be happy.

While I am excited about the film, I also dislike these 3D intentions. For one thing, an article I read said they're going to shoot it in 3D and rather not add that on post production. Doesn't that mean we won't be able to view the regular version without glasses when it comes out on DVD?
While many people hate on Roger Avary, I still would like to him write the script because:
1. His status as an Oscar-winning screenwriter. While he did write some very crappy dialogue from the first film, he has shown to have the potential to write better. Also, with someone well known on board, won't people be more inclined to give money for the movie?
While the director I've never heard of (Michael Bassett), I will watch some of his films when I can. Hell, I never knew who Christophe Gans was before I watched his film "Brotherhood of the Wolf". My only concern is that this director will choose to work with some of the visual designers from the first film to make sure it still captures the atmosphere of the first film.

It sounds like the game plot, but I'm still cautious. Why has Harry gone missing instead of just being killed off like in the game? I hope it turns out to be more faithfull than Silent Hill, but until a trailer is released I still can't make a proper judgement.
I'm hopeful though *crosses fingers*

I actually liked the SH movie - for all of its shortcomings, it was about the best I could hope for. So as long as Revelation is at least as good, I'll be reasonably happy. However, I do have some concerns.
1. The problem with a Silent Hill movie made for 3D is that there will be a strong temptation to rely more on flashy 3D visual effects than on an engaging story. Silent Hill is not meant to be eye candy. It's meant to be profoundly psychological and disturbing.
2. I can see changing Harry's role just a bit for the purposes of a movie, but apart from that, if you're gonna make a movie based specifically on Silent Hill 3, then the supporting cast needs to be true to their original roles. Like, if you wanna put Valtiel in there, fine, but don't make him an antagonist. He's not. He's just the Otherworld's maintenance man.
3. No Pyramid Head. He wasn't in SH3. He's got no reason to be in this movie.

Here's something cool for you guys. The director/writer of the movie has a place where you can leave comments. Here's the best part though, he actually replies! So for anyone with legitimate questions, there you go! michaeljbassett.wordpress.com/the-silent-hill-page/

That wordpress site gives me some hope. It's nice to see the director seem to genuinely care about the games. I'm very interested in what comes out of this. Looks like I'll have to rent Solomon Kane and see how he did with that.
