I am planning a trip to England this summer to do some research on Benjamin Britten at the Britten-Pears Library in Aldeburgh for my Master's Thesis (Which is why I have been so inactive as of late). I have the reading room at the library reserved from August 1 to 12,so I was looking for somewhere to stay from July 31 to August 13. I am willing to pay for accommodation. It will be great to find something in Aldeburgh, but anywhere nearby can work, (like Leiston, Saxmundham, or Ipswich). So I quess I'm asking if there are any SHF'ers who live in that part of country, or anyone that are friends of SHF'ers that live out there who can help me out. Also, I'm looking at various sites that help out with with finding available rooms for rent (like spareroom and easyroommate and flatmaterooms), but my only promising leads have fallen through. Thx!

Oooh, badass stuff! Well, my sofa is always available to SHFers as long as they aren't psychopathic oddballs offa their bonces on meow meow, but I live in Hemel Hempstead which would mean a 3-4 hour train/bus-trek to get to the place. Amusingly I've never in my life heard of Leiston, Saxmundham, and only vaguely recognise Aldeburgh. XD My ma was from near Ipswich though, so I'm going by distances to there. I have a spare Oyster card you could use to make the travel cheaper though. *thumbsup* I think Mr Meltphace lived nearer, but he hasn't appearred for a while now. I know people scattered around the yoo-kay though, so I'll ask around. I know that I and most of the folk I know would expect no monies and would only ask you supply a few dead animal parts for dindins once or twice. ..and maybe icecream..

You would be most welcome at my place. If there was any room. And I lived near any of those places. Which I don't.
Joking aside, you might want to try advertising for roommates online. I've never had to do anything like this, so I have no idea if that's an option, but if you're lucky you may stumble across a nice old couple willing to take you in.
I feel really bad that I can't be of much help, but I'm pretty clueless about subjects like this.
Also, I have never heard of any of those places except for Ipswich. I am a terrible, terrible native.

No matter, I think I found a place in Rendlesham, which is a bus ride (and four mile walk) away for 70 pounds a week which won't be too bad. She even offered to give me a ride in the mornings. I am planning on spending a weekend in London (July 28-31) with my brother, do we have any Londoners here who can show me around?

I don't know anyone in the greater London area well enough to hook you up with them, but have a great time in Brittan

So I found a cheap room in Aldeburgh and ditched the room in Saxmundham. About to head out, going to spend a weekend with my GF on the Black Sea in Bulgaria (at Varna or Burgas - I don't remember), then a couple weeks with her family in Sofia, then I'm flying to London to visit my brother who is an intern for an architecture firm, then I'm taking a train to Aldeburgh for a couple weeks to do research at the Britten-Pears Library for my thesis (My university is going to cover my travel expenses!). I'm so excited!

Sounds a lot more exciting than what I've got going. I'd love to travel like that. Sometimes it seems as simple as just burning all I have and making a go at the world. If only.

I'm back, had a hell of a time! (There was an insane cancer seated next to me on the plane) And, now I'm swamped with work, did I miss anything?

Was it Lolli or 'nog? Did you hit it with a lead pipe and then forget to stomp it and then it got up and you had to fight it again? Did you join the mile high club with it after you killed it the second time? There was an insane cancer seated next to me on the plane
