As the title says, we've got a US release date, its being distributed by Open Road. I've never heard of them.

For something that's coming out in less than six months, shoulden't there be at least a teaser or something by now? The lack of promotion is concerning, it's like they arn't even trying to draw in audiences. I mean if your not a die hard fan of the film and haven't been following the blog then you woulden't of been even aware there is a sequal coming out.
Makes me worry that this is going to be just a cheap knock off, surely something that had alot of money invested in it would want as many people seeing as possible? The investors would at least get the word out there as soon as possible to the mainstream crowd, the fact that they are not tellls me that they don't give a toss because they don't have much of a stake in it

I can already tell it's a cheap knock-off. They've made so manyc changes to the story that I don't see why they're even bothering.
Or perhaps I'm just being cynical.

Really, at this stage, we should have at least seen a teaser poster, but all we've gotten are a few stills. We really should have more details. Now that its got a date though, things should start coming through.
I'm more worried about the development time. This was shot around 12 months ago now, in that time frame, other films have been shot, and released in before this gets released.

What is also sorta werid is that the film is done and they were just waiting for a time slot, normally films are made with a ideal release date established and they work to that deadline, investors like that.
It doesn't sound like a cinematic release and more like an Independant film. It's like they are saying "oh yeah we've made this film, you can come see if it if you like." when they should be going "This film will be epic! come and see it!"

Maybe they are testing the waters. Since the first was a meh horror movie to the majority of movie goers, and with very mixed response from the fan base, I can see why they are being cautious. They probably don't have a big advertising budget either, so they could be saving it for the last few weeks before release.
I wish they would just make new characters in the Silent Hill world instead of stitching together decayed pieces of the old games in an attempt to recapture the old magic. At least the new games are finally realizing that with Downpour.
