Maybe no one else gives a shit about SF around here other than me, but it's a fucking legend to fighting games man.
Street Fighter is like my religion so I'm almost foaming at the mouth now that IV is coming tomorrow.
I practice almost nightly in SF, and have been doing a lot to prepare for this. Bought two new controllers. One of the SFIV Fightpads, and a 6 button Sega Saturn USB pad (Yep it works, and damn well at that.)
Anyone else feeling that fever that only a new SF game can bring? See, while I play and buy TONS of games, and even get excited about many of them, none are quite like Street Fighter to me. I STILL play Street Fighter II Turbo if that says anything. And it's even still used (Along with Street Fighter III: Third Strike) in professional gaming tournies. I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to Street Fighter, sure, but hell, this is a big deal man.
This is like THE fighting game release of the last decade.
Anyone else getting the game for PS3? I'll take on ANY and ALL challengers online. Can you out-muscle my Zangief? If you're new to the series and want to just chill and play, I can play Dan to give you a break too...

i've ordered the PS3 collectors editon in australia (game, Movie and Ryu and Viper figuers). Hopefully be getting sent out soon, since the street dates been broken out here. Don't know if i'll be taking it online though. Timing is something too important to a fighting game to enjoy when you suffer from lag.

I've experienced ZERO lag whilst playing online so far, very impressed. And btw, the PS3 CE only comes with the Ryu figurine, the 360 CE comes with the Viper Figurine.
None the less the CE is damned nice, I'm really proud to own it. Been playing the hell out of the game, but I had to work most of the day, and then have to work again in the morning...dammit.
Also, for once the install for the PS3 version is OPTIONAL. Though it's best to do it anyway, still it's nice that you're at least given the option. It does decrease the loading times pretty drastically.
I can't really complain about anything so far, everything meets or exceeds my expectations.
If I HAD to pick one thing though, it's that Vega is TRASH now. He is seriously garbage compared to his former self. I don't play him much anyway, but I still love the character. What's not to like about a supremely narcissistic, mentally insane, mask wearing, claw wielding fighter who only wishes for death to everyone NOT beautiful. BUT then death to everyone else beautiful afterwards, so that he'll be the msot beautiful man alive? Yeah..Vega's awesome.

^ Thats the US special edition. Australia, and Europe get both characters, But we miss out on the soundtrack though, and i think theres something else missing.
i checked out my order status earlier. Looks like they didn't get enough copies of the CE in the initial shipment, so mines 'on order'. might not get the CE
How much space does the install take up on the HDD? i haven't got that much space left on mine (damn 40 gig limited space).

A bit over 2 gig. I think around two and a half.
To cross examine CE contents, US CE comes with...
The game, but with a special artwork insert in the case. Blu ray "Ties That Bind" 64 minute animated movie. Ryu Figurine. Soundtrack CD Mini Collector's Guide

Damn man, game is so awesome it blows my mind. My two favorite characters are back in full form too. Zangief and Akuma. Zangief is a fucking monster, second in the worldwide tier listing, and for good reason. He's a BEAST. There really is no downside to Zangief now, other than being a bit slow and having little range. Still he can absorb so much damage it doesn't even matter, if he gets ahold of you, let alone pin you in a corner, it's pretty much done. Highest life and stun gauges in the game too.
Akuma is much like he was in SFIIHD. Strong as hell, and very fast, but very weak defensively. He has a very small life gauge and one of the smallest stun gauges in the game. BUT he's a powerhouse that moves very quickly. So it balances out.

You are certainly not alone my friend. Street Fighter II took the place of my parents! The only complaint I have with the game is that freaking theme song! Ahhh! I can't ever get it out of my head and it's killing me! Also, some of the combos are freaking HARD! Seriously! Good luck pulling some of those of in game. Besides that though, awesome.
Ken and Chun Li were always my favs, but since it seems everyone plays Ryu and Ken online I've been trying to get good with Sakura to switch things up.

I don't yet own a PS3 or 360, but I've been playing this at a friend's place.
I've taken a liking to Viper, and I'm amazed by how much more powerful my long-time favorite, Dan, has become.
Also, the C-DB, DF, DB, UF motion (Vega, Guile) seems a lot easier to get off now.

i was playing arcade befor, and god some of the fights feel really cheap. Its like playing someone new to the series in the arcades. anytime i got close to Blanka, he'd freaking start doing his electric charge attack. Anytime i was more then 3 feet away from Crimson Viper, she'd do her ground attack, and if i was jumping in, she'd do some flaming kick attack. And you can hardly stand near Zangief or else he'll suplex you (or that glowing hand attack if theres some distance between you). Though I shouldn't complain, i remember fighting him on SNES a version of SSF2T, and he was a joke. So, really, i suppose. Its just like old times. I've tried to do some of those challenge mode bits where it gets you to learn the attacks. I can't get freakin Ryu to pull off a air hurricane kick and actualy hit Dan. Everytime he does pull the move off, Ryu does his kick first, then the hurricane kick, So Dan is on the floor and the attack misses.
I've totaly lost my form over the years. i should invest in one of those cheap arcade sticks. But i've got too many controlers on my desk as it is.

For the Hurricane kick Pac, use the light kick button to do it. That should help.
I've officially declared Sagat as my main, as Zangief and me had some clashing issues. I still love the Gief though. And I've been practicing with Chun-Li again. But I think I'm rather decent with Sagat. Have been tearing the ranked match scene apart with him.
I ran into two laggy games tonight. Weird how until now I never experienced a single one. But tonight I played with a fellow from Australia with a mediocre connection, and we had zero problems and zero lag. We had a good chat via the mic, and had some good matches. He mains Sagat as well.
The Title/Icon thing is genius. Something so simple has become VERY addicting to me. I LOVE unlocking a new title or icon, and have to rush out to see what I unlocked after a match. It's just dressing up for Online play really, but it's still cool. Especially some of the cooler character specific ones from beating character challenges. The challenges get REALLY difficult, but for doing them all you get new colors, special titles and even unique icons for each character...
This game is a masterpiece, my game of the year already, and I actually doubt that'll change.

Yeah I like that you can unlock taunts! There's just something about a well placed taunt in a game to get the enemies blood boiling! Psychological warfare!

So, I'll buy the PC version soon enough. I'm a complete noob to street fighter, this will be first game of the series. I've already started training with my "test version". Anybody here getting this for PC?

I tried SFIV on a friend's PC. On a KEYBOARD. Seriously, is there anyone who actually plays like that? :S
I don't know whether it's because of the keyboard or my sucky skills, but I got owned. And Ryu really doesn't know anything except Hadouken. >_>

Ryu is a BEAST in SFIV. As is Sagat.
