Smog-monster-wise I found a way that works real well! Keep your distance until he "loads up" for a smokeattack, then (time it of course) roll towards him and counter, knocking him off his feet. Back up (or keep attacking if you can make that work) and repeat. Takes a while (and I admit it's a bit of a cowardly approach), but works quite well...for me at least! Br Strambo

I'd have to say that by far the worst enemy design in the game was the Needler. It just looked terrible from a SH stand point. Needler would look a lot more at home in a Doom game.
Some enemies became very easy to defeat if you had a stairway to stand on. This worked especially well for Schisms and Needlers. They just stopped right at the top or bottom of them while you can stand there and make cheap shots with the pipe or axe.
So, my most annoying enemy would have to be the Needler. I hated the design, the sound, their long-ranged attack was a real pain in the arse if you were surrounded by them.
@lifeless - I kinda liked some of the Smog designs, but once I saw it in-game I was fairly unimpressed. If you look at Smog on one of the loading screens, it doesn't have the terrible bright yellow lighting, and just seems to have some lit up cracks, or veins on the lungs, the textures look a lot nicer. But I guess it was an earlier model, as I'm fairly sure on some of the loading screens there are even pics of an earlier model of Alex.

Technique or no technique, the smog just annoys me to no end. It feels completely out of place in a Silent Hill game. On top of that, it's obnoxious. Could they get any worse? The only thing I like about them is how they glow when they're in the distance.

As long as I have a gun, the schisms don't bug me much (unless there are a ton of them, then I just run like mad).
The needler I hate. It seems to take forever to kill them. I don't seem to dodge very well. I usually end up ducking at the exact wrong time and get nailed.

Aargh yeah, the Needlers. You're supposed to be able to gun them down in one shot if you peg them in the head, but it never worked for me. They'd always block with their forelegs. I usually just end up melee fighting and taking a good bit of damage before they're finally dead. Or just running my ass off.

Ditto that Father Vincent. It'll be interesting to see if the laser pistol works any better than a regular gun. I noticed that Wheeler can take them out with one shot, lol.

I have found that the laser pistol works wonders with them. I highly recommend getting the UFO ending first.

I didn't mind the needlers that much, except in numbers maybe. I think I got that dodging down pretty good! The final boss though, without spoiling anything, I just hate...mostly due to the fact that I desperately need ammo! How can I NOT use all the darned ammo I have when certain enemy characters all of the sudden carry God damn guns??? I mean....come on!! So I ended up with nothing but like 7-8 rifle shots and a couple handgun bullets to wipe out Mr. Grosse .... on hard! Hints?

I actually found the final boss to be a cake walk. Easily the easiest boss in the game for me. I had plenty of ammo left (I learned that the crowbar and ceremonial dagger work really well on most of the enemies, even those with guns if you act fast), and didn't have to use melee attacks against it much at all.

I'm giving the nod to the first enemy that came to my mind: Schisms. They always seemed a little overpowered to me. I would bet money I died at their...uh...hands...more than any other monster in the game.
EDIT: Smogs used to be a rather bothersome enemy until I capitalized on their weakness. Waiting until they expand their chest then shooting them easily takes them down in two shots max on almost any difficulty. Once you have the timing down they largely become a joke.

Aww, I love needlers! I think they're a blast to fight, and I haven't had any problems taking them on in groups. I like their design, too.

This thread could've really used a poll. Can we make those on this forum?
