It was officially announced last year at the Microsoft E3 Conference. They didn't mention that it was coming to PS3 as well that day, but it was revealed the next.

Yeah, it looks damn cool. Might be a nice change of pace for the series too. I love the stealth based tactical espionage games, love them to death, but I've played a ton of them. I'm even playing one currently (MGS: Peace Walker), so this might be refreshing.
Regardless, it seems like it'll be pretty amazing. I'm more than excited for it.

Quinton Flynn 'in the dark' about Rising. Sounds like he's not expecting to get the call in for the role. I know they said during the podcasts for Gun's of the patriots that they considered recasting all the existing roles, and had everyone re-auditioned for the role. But could they really not offer Quinton first denial of the role? Hate on Sons of Liberty all you like, he did a great job still.

I always liked Raiden, even when everyone else hated him in MGS2, mostly in part of Flynn's excellent voice acting. I'd be pretty disappointed if he didn't get to reprise his role as Raiden. Much like in my mind how David Hayter IS Solid Snake, I believe Quinton Flynn IS Raiden.

The ironic thing is, everyone hated on Raiden for being useless in MGS2, but I found him FAR more inefficient in MGS4. If I recall, he got the stuffing beat out of him THREE times. And that's with his mad ninja skillz!
But I hope Flynn gets the role too. He did a good job, and it would be cruel to let him do two games and then refuse him a third.

Honestly, the only reason i would doubt that Flynn might not get the role is because its NOT Kojmia's game. It's his team, but its also meant to be the passing of the torch. I mean, i don't think we even know if Ken'yū Horiuchi (japanese voice actor) has the role?

I'm curious why they've had the change of style. Games looking more in the over the top style of Twin Snakes then the Kojima directed games. I'd say I've actually lost some interest in the game with the new direction this trailer has taken things. But as long as some of the things they said when the game was originally in development, that you can still play a stealth game and go for a no kill game, i'll still be interested. Upon re watching the trailer, i've noticed they've made some changes to Raiden/Jacks character Design. At first, i though it was just a minor thing like His sheath being on his back, but i've realised now that his mask/visor is different now. Thats a bit of a shame, cause i really digged the one he had in 4. And it sounds like Raiden has a support team of his own, makes me wonder if this takes place before or after Guns of the Patriots. Video's down too, have to wait until the VGA's have aired it for it to go up again. you can check it again here

From what they originally announced it takes place in between MGS2 and MGS4 and come to explain how Raiden got all Ninjafied and how he saved Sunny from the Patriots. The, I'm guessing, main bad dude kinda looks like Vamp. As far as the no kill run, I doubt that given the gameplay. Here is the trailer from GT

Alright, so the game apparently now takes place after MGS4. Apparently its been done to let Platinum show what they can do with a Metal Gear game. Seems just about anything we knew about this game prior to the new trailer is now moot. Interest level drops again. Never played any of Platinum games other titles, Vanquished always looked frantic fun, but Bayonetta looked to camp and over the top for my taste. There's meant to be a video going up on the Offical website that explains how the collaboration started. ... and now this from the website The original aim for a combination of stealth and action has also been enhanced, for a more aggressive new focus on pure, exhilarating action.

Trailer looked pretty awesome. Though the dialogue was kinda lame.
I'm pretty excited for the game. It looks insanely fun. Though I hope we still get to see Raiden's backstory if it takes place after MGS4 now. I'm sure we will.
In a way the thing I'm most interested in is how this game fits into the canon as a whole.

Looks great, and was exactly what I was expecting.
Now hopefully various sites will get that there's no 'Solid' in the title.

Wow. Slicing shit up never looked so good.
If you'll excuse me, I need to go take a shower. My eyes have accidentally orgasmed.

^ I bet you'd be an interesting person to talk to in real life. Nice new avi and sig.
I'm excited to see more Raiden stuff since I've recently beaten MGS2. Using the sword in that game was kinda fun too, though the circle shash was hard to pull off.
