given the choice i'd go with Michael Bay's robots. I mean have you seen the skanks that uwe Boll employs to be in his films? They are just tarts he has taken off the street

The main problem with the first movie IMO was that the directer tried to make it more accessible. I think that the Silent Hill series is popular enough that if the movie had been more directly based on the game enough people would have gone to see it for it to make a good amount of money, and I believe the same for this movie. If the movie can't make a good amount of money without being too accessible to be a faithful movie, then it shouldn't be made.

They made the first one accessible with Sean Bean's character. Also the cult made the storyline accessible with the way it was represented.
However, points like the ending made it not so accessible for most people.
There's possibilities in the sequel being accessible and using that as a way to make the movie itself better. It really depends on how they go about it. They could dumb it down or just simply make certain points more clear to people.
Unfortunately, I have to lean towards the likelihood of them simply dumbing it down.
It's perfectly possible to make something accessible while maintaining mystery and subtleties. You read watch or read something and then rewatch/reread it again and again and pick up on a things you would never have if you didn't look into it farther.
Like a Nine Inch Nails album or a Silent Hill game, it can seem straight forward or obvious but with NIN and SH, I still pick up on lots of new things that I never noticed before years later.
Maybe I'm being hopeful but I think it's definitely possible and I can see what they mean in regards to audience.
However, it does not mean they should! I'm quite against it but my point really is it's still possible for the movie to not be epic fail.

Vio: (smiling, yet showing a look of concern) We have with us, the new producer of the upcoming Silent Hill Movie. Welcome to the forum, Mr. Douche Bag. What are your plans concerning the anticipated sequel; I have to admit it has alot of the fans worried. Especially considering the way the last movie watered down and simplified many aspects of the game's plot to make it more... ;D Mr. DB: (interupts Vio like bratty child) "I think we need to make it a little more accessible to the movie-going public" Vio: Yes, yes. Exactly, the writer was so desperate to reach the larger movie going audience that it... Mr. DB: (interupts again) Silent Hill is not a blockbuster game like Resident Evil or the other games out there. It's a connoisseurs' game. Vio: So you mean that the treatment of Silent Hill, should for a more mature audience, to focus on the dramatic psychological aspect of the series, as opposed to the mindless gore of Resident Evil, and the first Silent Hill movie? Mr. DB: It has its own, rabid fan base. Vio: Excuse me? ::)Mr. DB: They're not cheap, these things. Vio: I didn't say they were. ;)Mr. DB: You have to appeal not only to the gamers, you have to appeal to a wider audience. Vio: Yes I agree, the first movie had many difficulties to deal with, since the first game's story is a bit confusing even for many fans, it could not have been a simple adaptation. The failures of the first movie could have been unavoidable, yet there were many aspects of the first movie I would have done differently. The story of Silent Hill 2 on the other hand is quite straight forward, it practically tells itself. You don't have to have somebody there to explain it for everybody, that defeats the whole point of the series that the nuances stay open to interpetation. The "how" and "why" isn't really that important, it just "is." Mr DB: So we have to get some story in there that helps explain a bit more. Vio: (clenches fist, pauses, takes a deep breath, then continues) At least the story of Silent Hill 2 is already written--James gets a letter from his deceased wife, and he searches for her, following a hope beyond reason--it remains one of the greatest and accessible stories in our entire culture, the themes within it are universal enough to reach practically every... :PMr. DB: I think that's all happening. :oVio: What? :)Mr DB: Of course, the story is going to happen years later and the main character Vio: The character? ...from the first movie... 8-)Mr DB: - without giving too much away - Vio: No, please, go on... ;)Mr. DB: Is much older and representative to the movie-going public which is in that age group. Vio: ...

I hope they will see how this "more accessible" approach is a bad idea, and change it.
Of course, if they make it "more accessible" and the movie fails, they'll blame the games. It's always like that.
Ugh, the lack of respect for the media AND for the intelect of the people is insulting.

Do something like The Mist. Actually, just change The Mist to Silent Hill 2, no one would ever know!

No matter what we come up with, the actual sequel will be much worse. Especially if they get Boll to direct

Worse than live action Scooby-Doo!? Well, at least it can't be worse than live action Cat in the Hat. . . . Can it?

Once again, I stand by my wish for the next movie to be about the dog from SH2. They could show the whole process of the dog up until his sweet revenge against James at the end.
