Cotsen Go?
Eh? Is that that funny game with black and white round pieces on a board? Never did play it.

The particular tournament I was in was sponsored by fellow named Eric Cotsen (helluva guy, much stronger player than I) and it is an annual event And yes, Go (or Weichi, as we call it back home) is 'the funny little game with the stones' Here is a link to Everything You Never Wanted to Know About Go and Were Afraid Someone Might Tell You... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_(game)Anyway, I won all five of my games and took fourth place. Since the trophies are presented along with bragging rights (and other fabulous prizes) I thought I would brag a little

Oooooh, well that makes sense. What were the prizes?
Free fashion models and a jacuzzi along with them? *winkwink*

In my case, the prizes included two books about Go and a baseball cap. I was also offered a shirt or sweatshirt but I declined as I don't like polo shirts and I already won the sweatshirt in a previous tournament. Unfortunately, cash prizes start at third place so I didn't make any money this year but playing Go is a reward unto itself Oooooh, well that makes sense. What were the prizes? Free fashion models and a jacuzzi along with them? *winkwink* Amusingly enough there are girls who come to rub your back for free both days of the tournament. And they feed you as well. These are provided for anyone who shows, regardless of their win/lose ratio. Still think Go is some funny game with stones that isn't worth your time?

Actually, I've checked the Wiki page now, it seems like I played a simplified version - Reversi. Somehow.
Who knows, might give it a try someday. I know there's a Go club somewhere around here.

For those who want a taste of the game, here's a link to a free program that I've found quite helpful igowin.en.softonic.com/It has a tutorial but more importantly, it is a 9x9 version (one quarter of the board) which means you can use it as a fight trainer... AlexY: I hope you make it to the club someday...

That's an epic pose, there's even a little sunburst on the trophy. Hopefully if you keep practicing you'll make it into third place or higher.
