This makes me wanna play it. A pity I can't afford another console, and my PS2 is busted... But probably the Wii would be the only experience worth playing anyway. Well, if it's really good, it means hope for the SH series. I'm glad to see you're enjoying it.

Arghhh I want to play it so bad. I even have a copy of the Wii version right beside me ~ ~
It's my friends Christmas gift though and she has a Wii. I'll just wait til next month. I'll have a bit more time to do things at the beginning of the semester anyways. It comes out the day after I get back so that's cool.
If it's REALLY that good though on the Wii, I'll buy a cheap Wii down the road. Or maybe I'll love it so much when I play with my friend that I'll just buy a Wii when I get back.

The small faults of the game, like sometimes over-sensitive motion controls are FAR outweighed by the things this game does right. Atmosphere, immersion, story (so far), and tension levels. A nice sense of dread is present as well. Dammit this sounds too good to be true. Is the SH series getting a much needed revival for real?

In my opinion, yes. The second major chase sequence had me in a light sweat with a clutching feeling of mild panic after having taken a wrong turn. One of those moments when I was yelling at my TV "C'mon, c'mon, c'mon, almost there!"
Walking around the woods, between ranger shacks and cabins in a pitch black blizzard really made me feel like I was in Silent Hill. I wasn't constantly running from random creatures on the streets or through the woods. But it didn't matter the sense of dread and bleakness was completely present. Sometimes I would be exploring a place in the older SH games and run into a group of creatures that forced me to run away. Sometimes that worked I guess, but personally most of the time that just made me feel disjointed from the experience. I've also thought the series was scary because of it's atmosphere instead of it's physical scares.
That said, the atmosphere is VERY clear and present here. The creatures are used a LOT more sparingly. The creature variety isn't as diverse as normal, but the ones you do see are actually effected by how you play the game. So they can be different based on how you're doing things. Also I found it kind of creepy how they act after you die. One or two of them now knelt down next to my corpse and placed their hand on me, one on my face, and started almost...petting it.

I agree with everything you've been saying kingofdogs. The chase sequences in this game are unbelievably tense. This is the first Silent Hill game since 3 that I've really enjoyed. I had very, very low expectations but this game proved me wrong in every way. And about the monsters after you die, I noticed that too. Very bizarre.
I have to say, I love this game. The atmosphere is so much more engrossing and it really is much more psychologically terrifying than the other SH games.

Glad someone else has gotten to play it, and enjoyed it too! Yeah, I was skeptical for sure, but the game more than meets ANY expectations I had or would have had for the game.

OK, I'll do anything for a Wii now. Anything. Anything, you hear? ...Anything, really. ...Just say it, I'll do it. ...Anything. *winkwinknudgenudge* ...Anyone? ...Please? *puppy eyes*

Quite a face-heel turn some posters here have had when it comes to this game.
Regardless, I'm excited. I just wish February would come sooner.

What do people think of the music now that they've heard it in context of the game itself?

The game is getting good reviews, and that's great. Gametrailers gave it an 8.5. Though the guy said the game can't be really called survival horror anymore, and I found that extremely weird. It goes against everything he said earlier in the review, and what you guys say. But reviewers contradict themselves a lot anyway. Man, I'm so glad to see this game doing well. ^_^

I feel a bit upset now. One of my close friends said that she didn't enjoy what she played of the game at all becuase they took out the combat and she found just running away from the enemies boring and not scary at all. She's one of the only people I've ever met that actually has kind of similar taste to me, and now I'm scared of liking the game, which isn't a good thing at all!

I'm going to find out sometime in the next week or so. I can't wait. I'm really excited to play this game. Then play it again to see the differences. Rinse/repeat etc.
