The nurses in alternate Brookhaven, the ones that are "grungier" than the usual nurses, have a growth on their back, similar to the bump on the Puppet Nurses in SH1. So, then--are they more consumed by the parasite, or whatever it is infesting them? Or are the "cleaner" nurses more consumed? I'm not sure what's up with the humpbackedness, so help me to understand why some nurses are bumpy and some aren't?

In Silent Hill 2? I doubt it.
They do change their texture palette to a grungier look, but the model stays the same. I didn't notice a bump, at least it doesn't seem to be bumpy.
Having a parasite in SH2 like the one in the original wouldn't make any sense to me. :/

Yea, the nurses later in the game are a lot grungier/dirtier looking. They're more brown looking and sometimes more aggressive/violent.
I never really noticed the bump you're talking about though. I just started a game of SH2 after ages so I'll probably see it soon.

I think that the "grungier" nurses are randomly mixed in with the normal ones and might be slightly tougher.
As for the humpback ones, I dunno.

I'm just pretty sure they only start showing up from the nightmare part of the hospital on.
I'll see if my friend wants to play SH2 still.
She randomly walked into my dorm room drunk one night (I was drunk as hell too) all like "let's play Silent Hill 2!"
I was like wait, wtf did you just say?
We only got about half way through the apartment though.

Yes, there seems to definitely be something sticking out of their backs. Find a dirty, grungy nurse in the nighmare/alternate hospital, and walk around it, looking closely. Best to do this on easy, of course. I've taken a horrible quick photo of it. I used the hyperspray to hold the nurse still while I walked around her. Edit: No more discussion? I demand to know why some have humps.

Well, I can't really tell anything from that screenshot. Anyone with a PC version to take a screen? I don't have time to replay... However, I still think they LACK a hump.

Well looking at this Youtube video of the alternative hospital, you get a good look at one at 5.37 there seems to be a dark area on their backs, but I think it's it's just their right shoulder, the way their head's are positioned makes their shoulders stick out, the right more so than the left, they always did walk a bit funky

I replayed and I didn't find humps in any of the two kinds of nurses. The thing is that maybe only american or european versions have humpy nurses, I only have the japanese SH2.
Pyramid Head: "Nonsense, the only humps my bit**es get are the ones I give them!"

Is it really just their shoulder? It juts out awful far, and even seems to twitch a little.
If the nurses' designs change depending on UK, US, or Japanese version, that would make more sense.
Do you think they would change depending on whether it was Greatest Hits or not?

If there was a change in the design of the nurses in the versions I would of thought we'd of been aware of it by now. 'the book of lost memories' has alot of notes and skecthes about monster designs such as the versions of the grey children/Mumbler creatures from SH1 but nowhere is it menctioned about any version of the nurses having humps.
there is menction of orginal SH2 nurses using IV stands as weapons before the creators gave them metal pipes, but that's about it

I do see some kind of bump thing on their backs, I don't know what it is but it doesn't look like a shoulder, it's a bit too disproportionate compared to the other parts of her. On the video Blacky posted it does seem that they have humps, though I personally have never seen them whilst playing.

Once again, guys, keep an eye out for the humps next time you play. If you honestly see no protrusion whatsoever while playing, let me know--they may very well look different in different versions.
Also, Blacky, I'm not so sure the Book of Lost Memories touches on every subject. I'm sure that even then there's hidden material in the game that they don't pull out.

Okay, sure. They might of not put everything in that book, but why would they withhold information about the nurses, even when the nurses become the very topic of discussion? I don't think team silent was that lazy
