Theme of Laura is a great number 1 and I'm happy to see the SH theme in the top three. I personally don't like ORT more than You're not Here and I guess I'm one of the only people who loves Shot Down in Flames but I'm very happy I could remind you of Snowblind, that's one I listen to often. Also, I was surprised just how many people love Wounded Warsong, I like it too but it doesn't feel totally Silent Hill to me, I can see it being put as a montage in a movie like Disney's Mulan. Also Breeze in monochrome Night is awesome to see up there. Waiting for You in my opinion is a song that's so bad it's good. And having the end theme of the first game in the top ten was a great choice.
Overall, I like it!

^ Hmm, I wonder what comes after Insane Cancer. Only the Mods know. But I'm pretty sure I have the highest post count so I may be the first to reach it! I like Silent Circus too, just got bored of it. Same with Room of Angel, used to love it, now barely listenable. Whoa, exactly my thoughts on those tunes, and indeed, indeed! I'm sure you'll become a pretty ghost victim or something tough and creepy like that Doc, I bow before your spamming skills. ---- The list looks a lot more democratic now! I'm delighted to see "The darkness that lurks in our minds" there this time, and it was awesome to give a full listen to "Witchcraft" for the first time, Homecoming is the only SH I haven't finished, as a matter of fact I barely know it, I don't want it spoiled for when I get it. Looking forward to the video now!

Oh! She's saying "you're a bad dad"? I thought it was "you're affected" lol. I'm horrible at understanding the lyrics in songs. Choir? They might as well be singing a different language. Nice to see that a couple of my favorites are at least in the honorable mentions. It would be cool to see the honorable mentions at least just listed at the end of the video, that way you don't have to feel so bad about not putting them in.

Now I remember, "True" is my personal favorite, I played the cello solo on a recital back in my undergrad right before I realised how big a Silent Hill fan I was and joined the SHF.uk six years ago.
Does anybody have a clip of the SH2 Hotel Music box?

I really like the track list.
Although, if I were to be my OCD self, I wouldn't put Hometown on there. I think it's a great song but not worthy of a best of.
Of course, that's just me though!
I think Dance With the Night Wind deserves more love.
I'm sure plenty disagree with me but I also think Underground Dawn III and Ice deserve more love.
Especially Ice.
Regardless, it's turning out fantastic. It's hard to really decide with only 70-80 minutes of time to work with on a CD and a billion fantastic songs to go with it.

Looks good.
This has motivated me to make my own Silent Hill playlist for iTunes.
I never realized how many songs bleed into other songs. Kinda annoying while making a playlist but great if you're listening to the CD as a whole

And I'm thinking Dance With Night Wind deserves to be up there too. It's really interesting that you think Hometown doesn't deserve a top spot... You just really surprised me. Why exactly don't you like that song? One of the reasons I like it so much is for the lyrics. The spoken part of the song reminds me of Jacob's Ladder, one of the leading inspirations for Silent Hill in the first place. He spoke of tortured souls So outrageous the toll You can lose all you have He refused to give in to the town that takes all Survive, you must have the will This movie doesn't end the way we want all the time Then he shouts at the moon She's gone, and fear has overcome He was walking the mile, he was walking alone
Four and twenty deadbirds, they bleed upon the nest There was no time for reason, they had no sign of a threat Now it's too late, too late for me This town will eventually take me Too late, too late for me This town will win
(spoken) Through this fog they come along Dark creatures singing a terrible song The rest of the bar laughed at him Only I felt my hope grow dim They found him dead the very next day "No more stories from him," I heard them say We blamed bad luck for his fate Only I felt terror so great
She and he will know that someday all things will end
That misty night That dismal moon The dead search for their kin While angels sing, in endless dark The dead seek out sin By the way, I'm waiting for Alex to reply with his songlist before I work on the video. It's unfortunate I can't do any song-blending, DJ-type work on the songs. I can just list one after another, but I'm using some video clips and nice pictures.

Honestly, I just think there's higher quality tracks in comparison.
Plus the intros of the SH1 theme song and Hometown are slightly redundant.
Joe was one things a lot of SH fans constantly railed against. I'm pretty sure there's a reason why he stopped doing songs after SH4 and Mary kept going.
I always liked him and thought the hate wasn't really justified. Secretly, I even sing this song to myself on occasion!
Still though, it's a really awesome song and the lyrics are really representative of the SH series.
It also has that lengthy pause after the song. That can easily be edited out though.
My opinion isn't really against the song so much as I think there's just a lot better songs to replace it with. I feel like I'm constantly contradicting myself bleh. Sucks justifying getting rid of something despite really liking it argh~
Another note, the song Rain of Brass Petals (Three Vocals Edit) is frickin amazing and highly underrated. Probably because it was the only bonus track on the japanese version of the SH3 OST.
Even if it doesn't end up on the list, check it out. Also check out the band Interlace who did the mix. They're frickin awesome. Yamaoka also did a mix of theirs called Missing Link (Heather Remix) in exchange.

But I really like the idea of a male singer for Silent Hill music... Yeah, the pauses and the bleeding of the songs don't matter. Doesn't make a difference at all. Okay, I understand. Thank you! Rain of Brass Petals is also a great song, but I don't want too much SH3 up there. Each game gets a fair chance in this top 21. But, of course, it always has a chance, especially in the runner-ups category. I've listened to all songs and weaved through the not-as-good ones, and in the end judged on what I felt were best. This thread shows that I do not want my opinion to rule out others' opinions. Haha, my poll has two votes, one for each song. It's already a tie.

I have the OSTs for SH1 through Zer0rigins. I think my favorite (though oddly enough, not my favorite game of the series) is SH3.

I have the 3, 4, and Origins soundtracks and I definently think that 3 stands far above 4 and Origins. Origins beats 4 for tracks like Shot Down in Flames, The Healer, Snowblind, and Not Tomorrow 4.
I will say this, while the SH3 soundtrack has amazing music, it is nowhere near as well utilized in the game as SH2's music was. When I listened to SH3's soundtrack, I felt like most of the tunes weren't even in the game until I checked the game again and really listened, they just don't stand out for some reason while the music of SH2 does. If I listened to SH2's soundtrack, I might not like it as well as SH3, but even Origins music was put to better use in game than SH3's was. SH4 had a somewhat weak soundtrack, but sadly it was hardly even put to use in the game that much except for Room of Angel which was used very well, as well as Cradel of Forest for the credits. SH1's music probably wouldn't be very listenable as a soundtrack but is very effective within the game, especially the dark horrific music that plays when something really scary and dramatic happens, and I love the opening theme.
So SH2's music wins in-game. SH3's music might win in soundtrack.
By the way, thinking of Littlebigplanet 2 has made me make up an RPG inside my head and I see the sad and disturbing parts really well when I listen to the SH3 soundtrack on my PSP.

I think the first 3 games definitely have the best soundtracks, although Silent Hill 0rigins is, imo, very nice too. It's Homecoming and Shattered Memories that, to me, are kinda... "ehh, some I really love, others I don't enjoy too much."
Yeah, I know that many people like 4 the most and 0 the least. I, too, feel that 0 is superior to 4. 4 still does have some of the best vocal songs.
So, guess what guys! I'm going to see Wicked at the Fox Theater! Boo-yah~! I hope that shows just how much of a music fan I am. (Never saw it before, but I like a good musical.) So, will update the thread some more when I come back. If it's not too late by then.

People like 4's soundtrack the best!? I never heard of that. People always seemed to like 2 and 3's music the best from what I saw. I remember hearing someone call 4's soundtrack "just awful" and while I wouldn't go that far, it is my least favorite that I've heard. Also, a lot of people seem to like Homecoming's music (but think it was badly used in the game, overused actually) and think Shattered Memories' soundtrack is 'meh'. But that's just what I've noticed. This sort of thing seems to change over time, just like people's opinions on the games do. A lot more people like Silent Hill 4 in general than they used to. EVERYONE seemed to hate it when it first came out, myself included.
