Yea, Tom Waltz can be pretty damn trusted with the series so far.
Sinner's Reward, while not perfect, has a very well done take on the Silent Hill universe. Enough that I throw it into my personal canon for fun.
Though, its original run was supposed be two extra issues long. I can't remember why. Perhaps Mr. Waltz can shed some light on this if he's still around here~
I just thought the story could have been fleshed out a bit more. I'm sure it was outside of his control though.
So the fact that people are taking to Past Life so well, shows some really good signs for Silent Hill 8~
Hopefully he can stick around for a while in the SH universe.

The forest itself seems a peaceful place, even in the eerie mist with the night fast approaching, but at once so still that if anything moved it would seem as disruptive as a car crash. You know, I'm not so sure that in 1867 Jebediah would be thinking about a car crash. By the way, I kinda wish this new SH was set in the 1800s, and not just the comic. It would be a fresh direction for the series, I think.

I've read it, and I was very pleased. I'm so glad to have it in my collection. I think all those other Silent Hill comics pale in comparison to Silent Hill: Past Life.
Seriously, guys, it is definitely worth checking out.

So I finally picked up the graphic novel. Just for it to fall apart (is this somehow appropriate given that it's a Silent Hill comic?) a little more every time I turned a page.
Bad binding. Sucks but I read it anyways and I'll just have to bring it back. I'm thinking about keeping a few random pages secretly so I can stick them on my walls. So, first compliment, the art is friggin fantastic! Brilliant even!
Menton3's work is as fantastic as his music under Saltillo (check it out if you haven't. Awesome stuff).
The story was very original and well thought out. It was appropriate for the time it took place in. It was so interesting seeing Silent Hill as it was in a dream like past. Plus on a personal note, I always wanted to see Silent Hill anything in the past.
Now this has me wanting another story that exclusively takes place back then.
Anyways, without spoilers, the ending was beautiful and tragic. I cared about the characters. I felt shocked and disgusted when you learn about Jeb's past. I felt sorry for him while feeling he deserves everything.
It played with the emotions just as Silent Hill should. Once again, Tom Waltz shows he knows what he's doing with this series. He created something unique, passionate, beautiful and original within the series canon. He managed this with a short graphic novel.
I think my only criticism is the same as Sinner's Reward. I think it could have been fleshed out more with another issue or two. It seems like it could have allowed more tension and build up.
But it's a personal thing on my behalf and given the content on what we do have, it's hardly a real complaint.
Now I'm even more excited for Downpour because I have even more trust in it and Past Life has me extremely intrigued to see just how much Downpour has to do with it~
Winnar! Now I'll just have to wait another month or so to get a copy that isn't from the otherworld!

Sucks but I read it anyways and I'll just have to bring it back. That's really odd. IDW trade paperbacks are generally of really good quality. Hopefully its just a fluke. Yeah, its odd how the Scott Ciencin was too long, and the Tom Waltz stuff is too short.

I have really bizarre luck with almost anything though. Whenever I buy something long awaited it tends to die or fall apart on me. I just roll with it! Not like I can make... uh stop doing that and such. I could try yelling at it though. I'll be like QUIT IT Y'KNOW! Next time anyways ~ ~ blarg

I picked up a copy of Past Life yesterday, opened the book twice, before the book started to fall apart. It was one page at first, but by the time I finished reading it, a good chunk of the book between chapter 1 and 3 fell out. Was a good read, and the art's amazing, but the binding was horrible.

Was a good read, and the art's amazing, but the binding was horrible. Well, like I said, IDW products are usually well put together. Between what you and Tabris have said, I'm willing to bet that there was some sort if issue at the printers. If you can't bring it to whatever store you bought it from for an exchange, check the first few pages, where the legal stuff is, for an email address and shoot them a message. They may be able to help you out, just be polite.

Don't know if thats really a option. it being over seas and all. I'm sure i'll find a way to repair it. Just glad to hear that the IDW books aren't normally so fragile. I've been wanting to pick up their new TMNT run, but i seem to have missed the second and third issues.

Interesting I wasn't the only one. Makes me feel a little better hah.
Sending them an e-mail is a pretty good idea. Hopefully they could help out. It's not like I wanted it to fall apart~
It was too bad I was stuck at my dads acreage for a month or else I would have just returned it.
