Did anybody else know about this?: www.motokoindepth.com/2010/08/ghost-in-shell-live-action-film.htmlThe idea's been bounced around for a few years, it looks like. Spielburg will be directing, and it'll be in 3D. And I hear from a yet unconfirmable source that "'they' had to convince that keeping the protagonist female was a good idea". And as the snippet also said, Leonardo is going to be in the Akira live-action move. Thoughts?

Haven't heard much news on the Ghost in the Shell front for awhile. I mean, that news is almost 8 months old. Akira though, there's been word on that recently. Apparently the script is crap and the cast is being 'white washed' as they say. But considering they'ed be moving the show to New York 2.0 i suppose thats to be expected.

I've also heard that James Cameron is supposedly working on a Battle Angel Alita movie, also in 3D. It seems Hollywood is tired of F-ing up their own culture so now they're F-ing up others.
I'm still waiting for that Cowboy Bebop movie starring Keanu Reeves.
Har har.

Cameron's been working on his Battle Angel Alita project for ages. Longer then he did Avatar. I almost expect it not to happen.

Keanu Reeves seems to be popping into more Anime Adaptions. He's now been linked to the role of Kaneda in 'Akira'. Apparently they want to age the characters. Bit of a age jump, from someone in his late teens/early twenties to someone in their late thirty's early forties.

Actually, if you ever heard the English dub then you know Keanu is perfect for the job of Kaneda
"Hey Tetsuo, stay away from my bike. ***..."
The effects will blow your mind and the acting will make you blow your dinner. Thank you Hollywood for raping yet another piece of my childhood. Isn't there a 70's television show that you can adapt into a movie instead?

A 70's television show you say? How about the 60's? I know I'd be up for the action-oriented adaptation of Davey and Goliath. "In a world where sin has wrestled the flock away from paradise: One boy. One dog. One future.. and a whole lot of lead. THIS SUMMER. 'Davey, this seems like a bad idea'. THE MEEK. 'Maybe you're right Goliath'. SHALL INHERIT. 'Davey, nooooo!' FIREPOWER."

An ex of mine used to claim that any trailer that began with "In a world..." made me automatically want to see the film
It would be excellent if I had a soundbite of a little Asian chick trying to do a deep voice...

Sound like Akira is hitting some tough times, Reeves has apparently passed on the role, and WB have taken a team off of working on pre-viz for the possible adaption. source

More like getting bludgeoned into the ground. If they got rid of almost everybody over budgeting, what other options do they have? It's stupid that they'd take on something new but get freaked out over any mention of financial risk. They should be aware of what'd be on the table, not play stupid and through a tantrum like that.

On the topic of anime live movie adaptations Rurouni Kenshin will be gettin the treatment. Since RK has no crazy beams or anyone doing things that haven't been done in a Matrix movie I'm looking forward to it.

Oooo I'd like that. Especially if they do the part where he's younger. The first set of OAVs is one of the best animes pretty much ever.
