As some might remember I mentioned that I was working on my graduation film and have a blog going for anyone who is interested. The blog will include all sorts of material but essentially the final result will be an 2D animation so I thought this was the best place for this thread. www.adammarketis.blogspot.co.ukIt's already onto a good start, I'll update here on any new posts, any opinons are welcome

First batch of my character concept designs for this project. For those who haven't seen the blog yet, my project is about someone who tries improving mankind through mind control. These concept designs are for the mind warped society.

Liking the red curtains... Very black lodge. because the paper cutouts have been done to death, what are you going to bring to the table?

What I quite liked about the Alice: Madness returns cutscenes was how the camera moved to create a bit more depth to the animation than it would if it simply panned left from right which makes alot of cutout animation look all the same. So if possible I would like to play with that.
I am also thinking of using particle effects for added effect, got what I think is a decent fire animation going on. But I have yet to see if it blends well with the with of the animation.
The character designs are going through a redesign at the moment, my tutors think I should tone down the zombieness of the possessed down a bit and try something more subtle. So naturely it really comes down to what the final character designs will look like really.

I really like the concept. One person trying to make the world a better place by immoral means. Or at least, I think that's what you meant? In any case, the concept art is rather unnerving, which I suppose is the impression you intended to make. It seems to be coming along quite nicely and I'd like to see the finished project once it's done.

I really like the concept. One person trying to make the world a better place by immoral means. Or at least, I think that's what you meant? Pretty much. To be more specific I wanted to explore what would be the greater evil, a world with freewill where war and conflict happens or a world at peace but at the cost of freewill. Ultimately the storyline will conclude that freewill is what makes us human and without it humanity just woulden't be the same, regardless of the Utopia created. Not a new idea of any means, But I think I've come with an interesting way of exploring it.

Have you considered giving the possessed a desaturated palette and clumsy animation? This would set them aside from the freewilled on a more subtle yet fundamental level After all, since the project is animated you don't need to rely on visual ques alone to sell the concept. Best of luck with whatever solution you adopt... I am fishing about for voices at the moment, so if anyone here fancies a go and has a decent microphone just give me a heads up. Anyone involved would be credited of course.
