For about the next month and only the next month I have the ability to play Xbox (I'm ordinarily only a PS3 sort of fella.) I'm almost finished with Alan Wake and was wondering what other games I should give a shot while I still can. (I'm trying to steer clear of FPS games though unless they are really exceptional.)

I got my 360 (on a massive sale discount) almost exclusivly for Wake and the original Dead Rising. Lost Odyssey is meant to be one of the best JRPG of the generation, if thats your thing (i found the combat a bit bland, and didn't care for the character design. The Poems/Stories you unlock were nice, though i'm sure you could get them on youtube or gamefaq). Really can't think of anything else, even if you weren't trying to avoid shooters. Crackdown was meant to be an OK open world adventure/action game. never played it myself, so its only word of mouth.

Lost Odyssey Dead Rising
As mentioned above.
Gears of War trilogy ... if you got an x360 then you need to play gears.
Try Dead or Alive 4 if you like fighters
Fable for a quirky free-roam RPG
Halo series for some shooter action
Magna Carta 2 another awesome JRPG
Ninety Nine Nights 2 ... a very cool action button masher with tons of enemies on screen at any given time (similar to Dynasty Warriors but this has it's own unique feel)
Those are all the exclusives off the top of my head.

Thanks for the suggestions. Unfortunately, my Xbox is leaving my grasp as of tomorrow, so the only thing I'll have time for is trying to play the rest of Alan Wake tonight. It seems I may have farther to go than I thought; it may be a long night.

Good Luck with it, Alan Wake is a great game, and if you can (probably won't) try to sink the time into playing the DLC episodes. They have some of the best levels of the game unfortunately.

I'd recommend Flash of the Blade but it hasn't been ported to Xbox yet. Alan wake is an all around good title- Silent Hill fans should feel right at home. The DLC had some clever things going for it but I stopped playing after the tele-monster...

Would have recommended Deadly Premonition if you're a Twin Peaks fan. Actually Alan Wake is a bit similar, just with a lot more polish, and more seriousness.
Still it's a good hidden gem.

Deadly Premonition is excellent or the most utter piece of garbage, there's just no middle ground. It's on both consoles though.

Well I am a Twin Peaks fan, and since I now only have a PS3, I'm glad it's on both consoles. I'm kind of intrigued with all the mixed reviews Deadly Premonition has.

Well...depends where you live. I know for certain it's not out on PS3 in the US. I'd own it if it were. It's not even on PC in the US yet.

I though the PS3 release was only in Asia, although, it was said to be getting move support.

Far as I know it is only in Asia. I'm not sure. What I am sure of is that it's not out in the US.

Are the discs region specific, or will they play on any PS3, even one sold in the U.S.? I could always buy a foreign edition online.

I don't think they're region locked, however I believe it's in Japanese. And it has a lot of dialogue/text in it. So unless you're fluent in it, it would be a rough time.

Just did a little searching, Back in march they announced a remastered move compatibly version coming to PS3, sounds like it hasn't hit yet.
