FYI: I have the PC version from Steam.
I'm at the part where I've just shut off the power to the prison. I'm trying to head back to the cemetery to get a special item, but every time I go through the construction door that leads back towards the cemetery (after you pass the prison heading back the way you came before), the game crashes. Every single time. I'm stuck. What can I do? I really want that rifle that's supposed to be there after you get the right combination of gems. Why is it crashing?
I have to say, I've experienced lots of crashes with this game, but this is the first one that has been consistent. It's crashed 3 times in the same place now.

It's easy to miss. I only knew about it because I consulted a walkthrough.

I really can't help you too much cause I don't have the PC version but it sounds like it could be your disc. You could try getting the disc cleaned at a game shop.

Well, as I said, it was purchased from Steam so there is no disc (that's the only way to get the PC version in North America apparently).

No, unfortunately their some sort of "online distributor", and the only way to get SH:H for the PC in North America. I can tell you, if this is the way the SH games are going in the future, I guess I won't be playing them anymore. Seems like they really just don't care about their PC-playing fans anymore.

That's a real shame, especially considering it won't work. I wonder why they never released it on disc?

I don't know, but I'm about ready to give up on this game. I've already sent an email to Konami telling them that if future games aren't released on disc for PC then they've lost a customer. I doubt it will matter to them, but I just felt I had to say something.
I'm going to try going back to an earlier save. Other than that or re-downloading the whole game, I don't know what else to do. Steam's tech support is pretty much useless. When they do respond (which takes forever), they don't even seem to have read the question. Their response isn't even related to the problem.

Who knows, maybe your complaint will make Konami think twice and release their future games on disc if they're worried more people are having this problem. I guess all I can do is wish you good luck and hope for the best.

Well, I finally had to go back to a previous save, which was unfortunately right before leaving the Shepherd home for the last time. What a pain.
I've had so many crashes with this game. The colors will get all screwy and the game will freeze, and several times the game has crashed my entire system. I know my system specs meet or exceed the game requirements. I'm wondering if other PC-players have had this problem, if it's with Steam itself, or what.
I can tell you this though: I will definitely not be buying another game on Steam. Never again. If future SH games for PC are released that way, then they've lost a fan. I doubt they care though.
