I wondered if there was anyone with experiance with night terrors. Recently I've felt moments of unease while asleep (or at least almost asleep) most of the time I can't remember the subject experianced, so I don't think it's nightmares. Though some I can remember include voices and sense of movement on top of me while I am half alseep, Often resulting me waking up unsure if I was indeed asleep or if I did indeed really experiance the abnormalities.
Does that sound like night terrors?

I experience shit like this constantly, but I'm an insomniac, so I kinda labeled it off as that combined with paranoia. I have frequent, and outlandish nightmares often as well. There's this spot on my ceiling, where the plaster fell away after the roof leaked once, I put a giant Mario Party poster over it to cover it. Well anyway, I've woken up many times hearing a faint scratching noise at the underside of that poster, like louder than an insect or rodent would make.
It sounds like something is lightly clawing at it, kind of like when you drag your nails across something lightly. It will start and stop, and when I get up and turn on the light it stops completely, if I throw something at it it usually stops, but on two occasions has continued. And it seems to only happen late at night/early morning. (11pm - 4am) It bothers me. I also often feel a sense of something watching me from the corner of my room, by my closet at night. It's a very small closet, and jam packed with my junk (Cards, board games, clothing, boxes, books, etc.) There's no way anything living could fit in there. As such I often shut the closet door tightly at night, and it's not as bad then.
See, the closet bothers me a bit because when you open it, it looks so completely different than any other part of the house upstairs. It's finished, but crudely, and looks very old. It's also extremely cold in there, even on warmer days. The temperature difference between the closet and my room at any given time is significant. When the door has been shut for a while, and you first open it, you can actually feel a cool, chilly breeze waft from it into my room. My girlfriend has complained of this many times, because she gets cold easily, but I feel it too.
My room is on average fairly warm, it retains heat easily, and is small with a vent shaft in it. The closet is not sealed up in any way, in fact the gap underneath the door is even cracked, meaning it should easily soak up some of the heat from the room.
It's all weird and makes me feel paranoid, especially at night...just had to get it off my chest.
Now, onto the night terrors. What you've described does sound like a night terror. I too have these moments, and sometimes think I see people in my room, near my TV that aren't there. I'm also the only person to have ever heard the scratching noise I mentioned above from my ceiling, even while my girlfriend has been in the room with me, though she's a heavy sleeper, so I dunno.
I can't count the number of times I've suddenly awaken drenched in a cold sweat and with a feeling of absolute terror. Recalling no nightmares, or any dreams for that matter, but feeling like stepping out of bed may spell my death. I've tried to combat this sensation by forcing myself out of bed into the kitchen for a glass of water or something. Having to trek through the house in the pitch black dark leaves me almost shivering in these times often.
The thing is, I'm a horror fanatic, so I guess until now I really just dismissed this as my overactive imagination (Also a horror writer...) going crazy on me. I dunno...

Fun things to do:
measure tempature difference of closet, the rest of the room and the house.
lay a trap for whatever may be lurking beyond the mario poster.... poison mushrooms!!

Dude, it was really fun reading your post. And I do empathize... I'm deep in the horror stuff too. It's especially telling when I only half-see something and immediately my imagination completes the picture in the most horrifying way possible. Happens all the time.

Not night terrors but this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sleep_paralysisAnd it SUCKS. Waking up and not being able to move and being afraid to go back to sleep...anyway, it happened a lot 1 or 2 years ago, but it stopped last year ;D

I used to get Night Terrors when I was a kid. I would be sitting up screaming and my mom would come in and wake me up. Got sleep paralysis too. Not anymore though.
