The governor of Utah, Jon M. Huntsman Jr, has vetoed an amendment to the state's "Truth in Advertising Act." The amendment was penned with help from everybody's favorite fanatic, Jack Thompson, and would have fined any store that established and later violated policies about age restrictions. However, stores that did not establish such policies would be at no risk. The governor realized that the loophole is more harmful then the hypothetical problem. He also wisely recognized that the amendment's wording is probably unconstitutional and it would be a waste of taxpayer money when it would inevitably be brought to court and lose. How about that? A politician who recognizes potential consequences, as opposed to going for the cheap publicity of "protecting our kids!"

At least this idea wasn't so bad, it's essentially just holding stores to their word. (I guess that's the best he can do since his disbarment.) However the consequences certainly would render it more trouble than it's worth.
I can't believe the guy's still trying though. He's like the friggin' T-1000.
