::I just posted this in some public community on livejournal, and some people think I'm making a mountain out of an ant hill... or a michael moore out of a midget... or, I refrain.
So... I'm posting this background note they got to see last and you guys get to see first! This may seem like totally nothing, but I live in a country that's famous for nothing except (1) not having a sense of humour (2) banning bubblegum (3) exporting tourists who insist on getting in trains and buses before letting people get out.
So yeah.

Location: Public bus
Time: Evening, when almost everyone board is heading back home for some rest, maybe dinner.
Scenario: You walk into the bus and head straight for the back. You opt to remain standing for the journey as there were very few seats when you got on. You pass by two bus stops uneventfully, until an elderly woman, carrying a bag of something get on the bus. She wants to sit down, but a lady who is close to you is sitting on the outer part of a double-seat. The elderly woman tries hard to get her attention, during which the lady, who was apparently dozing, briefly opens her eyes and seemingly feigns deafness. You hope fervently to yourself no tourists are on board. The elderly woman tries for a little bit more to get the attention of the woman who refuses to budge. She now her eyes stubbornly closed. The elderly woman gives up, but gets a seat anyway owing to a decent human being who happens to be close by, a mother with a small children. She lets her child sit on her lap and the lady slips in gratefully on the seat.
"My feet really hurt," She says somewhat awkwardly. Her eyes dart back to the apparently dozing woman again, as though she was not quite sure the atrocity really happened.
"No manners at all." She declared.
You give her a little smile. Some passengers nearby shake their heads forlornly.
You are two stops away from home. It will take approximately five minutes before you get off the bus. What do you do? Post your answer, along with what is the "right" thing to you, in your respective country.
Right thing to do in my country: nothing.
What I did: Nothing. Well, I was going to say, "Deaf are we? Well take a look at this!" and point my middle digit at her, but then she would probably snore at me. Then, I went home disappointed not having done my duty - the heavens did send me a person to point it at, after all.
