www.ronniejamesdio.com/Despite numerous internet rumors, even one circulating recently over the weekend, this time this news is, sadly true. Dio was one of my childhood heroes, one of the reason I got so involved as I have into metal music. A legend amongst rock and roll and heavy metal, arguably the raw inspiration of the power metal subgenre as a whole. Ronnie lost his six month battle with stomach cancer on May 16th. May he rest in peace, his mark on music will never die.

While I wouldn't go as far as to call the man influential, I certainly enjoyed his work in my teens. Recently I was thrilled to hear him sing the part of X in the sequel to Mindcryme and sorrow at his passing
I will join blacksworsman in raising a goat sign in honor of Ronnie James Dio

He nearly single-handedly influenced an entire sub-genre of metal...how can that NOT be considered influential? Unless you meant on a personal level, that I can understand.

Personally, I was never influenced to start a band after hearing his work. But if metal were a religion, Dio would definitely be a saint and Iron Maiden would be the pope. Also, Metallica would be excommunicated for their haircutting, selling out, whoring for the RIAA blasphemous behavior

I see, no that's cool. I thought you were just saying he wasn't influential to music.
