Without a doubt, it will be a damn good looking film but when I consider all the material they'll have to cut to make a theatrical release... I think it will be V for Vendetta all over again
That having been said, I'll be there on the opening night

I'm sorry. I'm just so excited to be 17. It's the oldest I've ever been, really.

LOL Alx, you crack me up! ^_^
I´m really excited about this movie, I just hope they don´t blow it. The graphic novel is so dense I thought they´d need a trilogy to cram all the source material in there.

The graphic novel is so dense I thought they´d need a trilogy to cram all the source material in there. That's exactly what I'm talking about. So what are they gonna cut? I think it is a given that the whole newstand/pirate comic bit will be replaced with news flashes, but what else are they going to drop? Also, when I was Serini's age, PlayStation was called CHESS!

I'm extremely excited for this movie and I haven't even read the graphic novel. All my years of being biased towards manga (when I was younger i started to resent super hero style comics a lot), that I never noticed these kinds of graphic novels.
I'm pretty sure if I read The Watchman as a kid, my outlook on the potential in super hero graphic novels would've changed a lot.

When I was as old as you were I didn't have a PlayStation, I had a ROCKING HORSE.

Rocking horse, eh? You got me beat. To be any more low tech, you'd have to say "I had a few stones"
So for those who read both the books, which did you prefer V or Watchmen? (cite your reasons, folks. This is a discussion, not a poll)

Ummm... I liked V a bit better because I really like it's color palette. But really, I can't decide.

To answer questions about what I hope doesn't get cut, I hope they don't cut any of the scenes about Rorschach and his psychiatrist, that is gold and points out his origins. I hope the psychiatrist also has his solo scenes kept in, he was a wonderful character.
I wonder what they will cut though, like was said, the pirate comic stuff will be gone, but probably be a DVD feature most likely. But this movie going to have to push three hours top, because not only are so many scenes important, many scenes are being expanded, like the prison break and the fire rescure scene with Silk Spectre and Nite Owl. It's going to be epic!
As for the poll, I can't decide because, A. I haven't read the V for Vendetta graphic novel, and B. I haven't seen the Watchmen movie obviously.

Mm, yes I believe that they will be releasing an animated 'Tales of the Black Freighter' DVD and when the Watchmen DVD comes out I'm sure there'll be a combined version... at least in the Special Edition. It's supposed to have Gerald Butler of 300 fame voicing the stranded Captain.
Personally I think Rorschach is my favorite. I really hope they keep the whole Golden age stuff, especially the bits with the Minutemen and the Crimebusters. those were classic scenes.
It's under my impression that they're going to name the Crimebusters 'The Watchmen' and they'll set it up so they had a glory day also, instead of one short meeting. Which is fine with me, honestly. i think it would have been great if the second group was called the Watchmen and they had their own high time. Just my opinion.

I though i read somewhere that the initial cut they made (befor they really decied on where to trim etc.), was over 3 hours. But that included the Black Frighter stuff, so it would be less then that now. I also heard theres meant to be a 'documentary' about the Minutemen. and its word is there be some super edition DVD/BluRay that has all of them in it. I'm more interested to see how they might playout the events of chapter IV. Its where they went about fleshing out the good Doctor, and helped to provid more backstory on the Comedian. And of course how they work the ending, everythine i've heard seems to suggest its been changed quite a bit while still trying to reach a similar conclusion to the story.
