This is a pic some of you will have seen in the Tenth Caste RPG. It was done quite a while ago, possibly November, but I've been unable to post it - 1. Because it hadn't been posted in the RPG yet. And 2. Because the computer I originally created this pic on, failed and I lost all of my older, larger work. This is a small version I posted on my Facebook and have blown up the image meaning some lighting and detail have been lost. Oh well. LoversNautilidae Concept *WIP* This is an enemy design I've done for an side-scrolling underwater shooter that has been in the works for a while but development came to a halt for some months and I assumed the project was dead. This is the unfinished design of the creature, which is why I have blobs from my colour pallet in the left corner and edges aren't refined, plus random black blotches etc. The creature is a sort of cross between a shrimp and a Nautilus. The long antenna which has a barbed tip, which sprouts from the head and curves back over its hard shelled back serves as the creatures main weapon.

Don't Worry my friend, the Lovers have already made their RPG debut about a week ago, and there was a very very good response for it! I thank you again for the very interesting concept! Cheers!

Great design, solid execution. What's this about a dead system? Have you tried pulling the drive and tossing it in another box?
I hate to think of you losing a grip of work...

They're really good but the second pic creeps me out as I don't like the way crustaceans look. Though it is cute with the huge eye.

The Lovers one is gorgeous, and actually reminds me of an artist whose works i keep seeing around the netz, but have yet to find the name of. The hazy colours of the background really make it imo, and the way the more vague "scribbled" lines of the main form are seemingly blurred into the background gives it an almost underwater feeling in my mind ( i blame the colours themselves. I used to live right near a mangrove swamplike area when in the carribean and the water always had a slightly murky gold>amber>mahogany thang going on in the sunlight. ), while at once keeping an echo of frantic motion. ...god i hate listening to myself sometimes. I hope you get what i mean though.XP The Nautilidae is wicked, i have a bit of a thing for the nautilus as it is and this is a tasty play on the design. I dare say that the absence of hard/refined edges gives it more of a feeling of being in motion, as do some of the blacker lines around the lower parts. I've been intrigued about this side-scrolling shooter ever since you first mentioned it ages back with some other design posts, you should get your collabomate/s and beat them with sticks until the project is resumed dangit.

Thanks a lot to all of you for the comments, and apologies for the late reply.
Pseudo - I think the artist you might be thinking of is Zdzislaw Beksinski. A few weeks prior to painting the Lovers picture, I bought one of his books, so it was very much inspired by his work. I'm really pleased with the way the background turned out (which is a first for me) and kinda brought the whole thing together. I didn't want a background with much detail and actually took inspiration from some of the colours used in the apartments from SH4.
alx - Much appreciated. Right before getting my new computer, my old one got a pretty nasty virus and was a real pain to use. Everything took absolutely ages to do and the computer would reset almost everytime it loaded up a login screen. So, I haven't actually lost everything, it's still there, I just need to take out a bit of time so that I can start it up, sort my files, and transfer them to my new PC. It might take a little while as I used to be quite messy and save my pics to random files. Woop!
Vio - Thanks a lot. I'm glad to hear it went down well.
rachelchan - I live right by the sea, so if you don't like how crustaceans look, then you should see some of the sick things that wash up on the beach here. You wouldn't even be able to guess what they might be.

Thaaaaaat's the one, yes. XP I can imagine the book is damn shiny really, and you can see the inspiration in the pic. Do you have any other works in that vein planned so far (iffin i may ask that is) ? And good luck with trying to sort out all your older stuff, i can sympathise kind of and well..make sure there is a tank of coffee and small mountain of smokes handy for when you do begin your endeavour. x_o
