Oh, man, characters are ruined now. I'll be laughing during the game. Is it only me or after SH4 the graphics went down hill? Origins and Shattered Memories are on the same system and look worse. And Homecoming wasn't that great in the graphics departament either, even though it was supposed to be current gen. *sigh*

Origins didn't start out on the same system as SH4. It was originally on PSP. Also, I thought that SH4 didn't look as good as SH3. Also, I don't think we can tell how Shattered Memories truly looks until we're playing it in our homes.

I agree about the graphics, the smoother on the series is still SH3, and thats just sad... considering it's a game from 2003 (great year for games, along with 2004)

Yea, the graphics for Silent Hill games used to be top notch. SH1, 2 AND 3 all had some of the best graphics for its time. I actually hadn't seen a more gorgeous game than SH3 for quite a few years after it was released.
SH4 was essentially developed at the same time as 3 although it wasn't originally a Silent Hill game. 4 looked pretty good but it was a definite step under 3. Naturally, Origins wasn't going to look that great but it's a really nice looking detailed game for the PSP.
Just be glad Origins didn't end up the way it was going to originally. If we didn't bitch and whine as hard as we did about it, the game would've been so awful. The original SHF forum was actually thanked at the end of the PSP game. Apparently it was taken out of the shit-tastic PS2 version though. The PS2 version of Origins is still one of the biggest epic fails in Silent Hill history. Worse than the cell games and arcade game as far as I'm concerned.
Homecoming.... well for anyone who was around watching that game be developed, we bitched and moaned all to hell about it. It never really quite hit the graphical level most of us was hoping for. It looks pretty but, compared to the previous Silent Hill games, it wasn't nearly as detailed as it should have been. How about the repeated skinned body everywhere? I don't care if it's part of the story, THAT was lazy. I didn't know everyone in Alex's town was a skinny male.
Shattered Memories seems like just an experiment. I assume they felt they could do more with the PS2 with whatever budget they have than they could have on the PS3. Homecoming wasn't exactly as successful as it should have been.

I think I'd prefer to post an image to show my enthusiasm for the cover art.

Alone raises an excellent point; in Nihongo, girls can either whine or climax. Not much else for them to do in a dialog

Yea that box art looks fantastic. The new screenshots look fantastic and VERY Silent Hill 1-like. Don't really tell much but at this point we just need to play it~
The differences between Dahlia are intriguing. I'm beginning to wonder if Dahlia becomes more like Heather or Alessa depending on your decisions.

Ahhh, another reason Im glad to be a Wii owner :-) But this looks....I dunno....delicious?
I want this quite badly, and I am WILLING this game to be good. With regards to combat and the lack therof, Im not that fussed. I only ever use guns on bosses as beating things with lead pipes is my regular modus operandi, but even then Im more used to running away from trouble (unless Im playing Homecoming in which case replace running with a slow amble).
Im pretty sure Ive seen all the videos now, but are there any of people playing the game so I can get a good idea of how much waggle is required?

It's good they're trying something new. They have to find a new way to present the series, what better way than give us a sandbox version of a previous installment? Pretty damn good call I'd say. BTW peoples, just remember, it's always darkest before dawn. They're tryin' their best. Let them experiment for awhile, give some constructive feedback, and we'll get over this hump eventually. It benefits us in the end. Some game franchises just take awhile to get rollin' again.

New gameplay footage:
I'm liking what I'm seeing how about you guys? I'm really digging the cellphone! I find hearing people’s voices from the past is a little more chilling than just reading a note. Kinda brought me back to when Henry was spying on Eileen and listening in on her conversations with...herself. It would be really cool if the phone started to capture EVP quality voices! I also liked the background music

I also liked the background music But the cellphone gimmick is just like from Fatal Frame. The camera for taking pics of stuff that are not there, just like the Camera Obscura, and the phone itself for sounds and voices from the past/dead just like the crystal radio in the Fatal Frame series. It's kinda unoriginal, really. And not that spooky at all. I'd rather they stick to epic chase scenes and mindfuck puzzles/situations.

I really like what I'm seeing in those videos. Especially assuming that's somewhere in the first 1/4 of the game. I think this game will be absolutely fantastic.
The cellphone 'gimmick' as Alexy calls it, is something I'm slightly wary of as well. I don't mind it so much but at the same time I question it's necessity. I'll have to go through the game first though.
I can see it being really neat with the microphone in the Wii controller. Most of these things in a Silent Hill game, I generally feel you need to wait until the game is over to really judge. What can possibly happen in these games by the time usually results in an epic mindfuck and everything is turned on its head. Homecoming being one of the only that fails at this.
I'm excited as hell. I'm going to pre-order my copies of the PSP and PS2 versions (and get all giddy like a schoolgirl over the OST that comes with it) when I go pick up the new version of Fallout 3 for PS3.

I scheduled the 13th off work so I could go out and pick up my preordered copies of SH Shattered Memories and Uncharted 2. Of course, just like when Homecoming came out, I'll have to wait 'til dark to start playing SHSM. Also, I'm really geeked up to hear that OST disc. I gotta get my iPod repaired before I can add that goodness to the Silent Hill playlist, though. It needs new batteries. At least, I hope that's all that's wrong with it. . . .
