I wouldn't mind the changes so much if they weren't being done to already established characters. I get it, it's a reimagining. It doesn't mean I have to like what I'm seeing. Honestly I probably buy the game and play it. I just wish they had used the elements like, icy underworld, no combat, iphones, in a completely new game. That just makes more sense to me.
Go ahead, remake Silent Hill 1. Add more areas to explore. Get more in depth with the characters. Add new puzzles. Update the graphics. Add monsters you can't beat but still have monsters you can fight. I'm cool with that.
But this reimagining makes no sense to me when all this stuff could have, and in my own opinion, should have just been saved for a completely new game. Completely new. Not a reimagining of a classic.
Everyone and their brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, etc can absolutely love this game and enjoy the changes and support it. I have no problem with that. I just want people to realize that the people that don't like what they see with this game aren't simply "haters", but are people with equally valid opinions and views as those that like the game.

You mean this image? I'll prolly give the PS2 version a whirl, can't be that different from the Wii version besides the motion control that I don't give a damn about anyway. I, to it's credit, do like this shot. The snow swirling in the flashlight reminds me of winter up north near the middle of nowhere where there are no streetlights, only the empty countryside and that black void of a sky up above After reading the new interview, I gotta laugh at how they dote on about the flashlight and how amazing it looks. Makes me suspicious

You mean this image? Oh, good Lord. I concur. Jubblies. At least the diner/bar shown reminds me of Twin Peaks in a way. Don't know why.

The snow looks awesome really, but theres nothing impressive about the flashlight from the shots I'm seeing. Then again we haven't seen it in motion, but flashlights never really impressed me much. -laughs-

You know, for a series that's based around otherworlds is it really that hard to assume that pehaps this game is happening in a Alternative universe? One that is seperate and therefore has no effect on the universe of the main series?
I mean the town really got screwed up at the end of the first game, mabye Alyssa also accidently created other silent hills with other Harry Masons

Why'd they have to go and turn Cybil into a sexy minx? And more to the point what are the creators odd fascniation with glasses? Wait till the SH3 re-imagining where the only substantial differnce will be Vincent wearing NO glasses. I was trying to be positive about this game, project re-imagining whatever. But sexy Cybil (or is it now Sybil??) is kinda putting me right off. EDIT - Ok, so after reading the interview again I noticed the characters you meet could be dressed differently, and this ties in to the Psycho test you take at the start. Cybils undressedness could be due to that, so yeah...who knows. What did they do? Watch all of Jerry Bruckheimers recent reimagings (Chainsaw Massacre, Hills Have Eyes etc) and thought that would be a good idea to copy? Did they not see the reaction? Also, if that pendant around her neck is some how tied into the plot then I could go a bit funny. AlexY - The original Cafe scene was Twin Peaks through and through IMO, just listen to the music during Harry and Cybils conversation. This just looks like soft core porn, soft lighting an all. (bow chicka bow wow) Yet Im still trying to reserve some hope, that is until the inevitable PH screenshot comes in.

More I read into the physce thing that effects the appearance of other characters places being open etc is quite interesting. Imagine the wii mote running out of battery power when you are about to make a tactical dodge and run!

It doesn't look like a piece of crap game. It actually looks interesting, but I'm still not a fan of the no combat thing. My main problem with it is that they should have just made a completely new game if they were going to add so many changes. I'll say it again. The game has a lot of cool stuff. I just think that they should have done a normal remake with less changes, maybe a few more puzzles, and areas, but kept it mostly the same with graphical updates. Like the RE remake.
I don't think this game needed to be reimagined and I'd rather play a completely new game than a reimagined one.
Does anyone understand that? Besides the no combat thing, I'm fine with this game. Even the no combat thing might end up being cool. Got that?
Okay, hold onto that thought then.
On top of what I said above, I think they didn't need to reimagine the game and would have been better off making a completely new game with these new game play elements. I'd rather have new Silent Hill than a version that just doesn't need to be there.

[From the shacknews.com article] For instance, rather than using text to inform the player whether a door is locked, or what Harry thinks about a particular picture frame, this is information is now entirely conveyed through narration. If you point your flashlight at a picture, Harry will pipe up with an audio-based quip. ---- That sounds like it might get a little annoying. I was always fine with the text.
The overall concept though, does sound intriguing. And while I do understand Pyramid Head's point, Shattered Memories could for all intents and purposes be seen as an entirely new and different chapter in much the same way as the movie was - Obviously based on Silent Hill, but beyond comparison to the original source material for differing so wildly in so many ways. An outside project; an experiment which, in the end, some will tell you it worked and some will say it didn't.
