Was rather cool, especially the long, destroyed highway.
Wasn't much there except smoke coming from the ground in a few places and the ground was really, really hot. The best part though was all of the Silent Hill graffiti, like 'Welcome to Silent Hill', or 'Here Lies Pyramid Head'.
Anyone else been there?

That is pretty cool, I'd like to see what the abandoned buildings look like.

Some day I'm going to go on a random road trip to this place. I'd love to go. Reasons are fairly obvious.
Good stuff~

I don't really get why people go all crazy over Centralia. I guess I get it to a point, the movie's idea of having a mine fire under the town coming from the story of Centralias own fire inspired the movie to have a mine fire in it. The truth is though if you're going there to find some sort of amazing town that really gives you a Silent Hill feeling you'll be out of luck. Most of the buildings are gone. There isn't even a "town" anymore. I think it sucks that people are putting graffiti all over the road. It looked much more cool without that garbage. I mean what looks more cool. Grafitti all over the road, or the road before the crap graffiti, as can be seen here? upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b1/Pdr_1647.jpgCentralia is about as far from being the "Real Silent Hill" as The Sahara Desert is a great place to wear a winter coat in the day time. Now maybe some of you are going "Dude, why are you peeing on our parade?!" The truth is I'm not. I just want people to know what the place is really like. Some of you might still head out there anyway. I'll probably visit sometime too honestly, but some people might plan on going there expecting something amazing when it's really not. Wouldn't you rather really want to know what it's like and if it's your cup of tea before planning a trip and spending cash and time to go there only to get there and go "Thats it? " The reason there are so few photos of the abandoned buildings in the town is that there are so few buildings in the town and the ones that are there are either still being used or will be torn down. There is extremely toxic gas that comes out of vent pipes put in to help relieve pressure of the gases building under ground from the fire. It also comes out of cracks in the ground. Whole areas of ground are unstable have been known to have sink holes pop up in them. It's not exactly the safest place to be. Here is a link to Google maps image I made a screen cap of, showing what little is left of the town. img.photobucket.com/albums/v197/cobrabat/centralia.jpgWith that said I'd still like to visit it sometime as it's in the state I grew up in and I'll probably visit PA again and make a side trip to Centralia. Here is a great site that has a tone of info on the town, as well as photographs. Enjoy www.u-town.com/centralia/
