I figured Final Fantasy Versus XIII deserves its own thread since now that Final Fantasy XIII has dropped, it'll lessen confusion if the two games had their own space. So apparently Square released a new FFvXIII trailer in their closed theatre. Apparently the trailer is brief: Noctis is standing on the side of a freeway during midday. A car stops to pick him up and then speeds off down the road. It then reads 'Revelation will come next time' The 'wow' factor of this trailer is that it is in real time. Just another step closer SourceAlso Noctis' new costume has been revealed and it actually look like it could function in the real world unlike most of FF's clothing style. Looks good except for the skull and cross bones on the tshirt Noctis' Costume

I think i remember reading that a clothing chain in japan is meant to be making the charactes outfits for sale. I wouldn't mind getting Noctis suit from the meeting with Stella.
Really wish SE would get there act together and stop showing the trailers behind closed doors. Or maybe there feeling like they have to. For awhile now quite a few people have been saying that vXIII looks more interesting then XIII. It kinda makes sence to hold back if thats the case. Then again, maybe there just isn't that much to show yet.
Damn it, i want more information on this game already.

As do I.
A Final Fantasy game with a real world setting AND Kingdom Hearts-esque battle system?
Sign me up!
Also, announce Kingdom Hearts III already. Stop doing these games on handhelds, dammit! Although it is neat to see Axel's and Saïx's human forms (Lea and Isa)

^ I'd rather they announce it when its like, half way through development or something like that. KH2 was a painful wait, and i think half the scenes from the original trailer didn't even make it into the game (plus, we need a Tron 2 world)

So, there's actually been some news released. Game might not make a appearance at E3. In a interview, Nomura has mentioned that at one point, versusXIII was going to have a world map similar to VII/VIII/IX, but they've gone to the more recent map layout of X/XII. I'm just dropping the numbers in place there, the famitsu article thats being quoted blocked out the numbers. but i'm not sure if its a good thing or not.

I was never hurt when they took away the world map. I can understand the appeal of it; giving the world scope and depth/going wherever you want I just never really cared that it went away in X/XIII. They should try to make E3, its been in development forever and we've only seen one real-time scene. That or they need to stop announcing games so early in development

I missed the world map in X, but i didn't like X in general. Didn't miss it in XII though. I think your right, its nice if its there, but if your trying to create some sort of consistency with the world, its better left out.
I hope they can at least show some footage. Even if they just use it as some sort of tease for a bigger announcement further down the track. Show a brief bit of game play, then show that scene with Noctis getting in the car like they did at the Square event.

FINALLY SOME IN GAME SHOTS - Final Fantasy Versus XIII will appear at TGS 10
- You can go anywhere on world map (excluding the mountain because it is an open field)
-Battles are completely seamless
- The town in trailers is modeled after the Shinjuku city
- Versus will be huge
- Destructible environments
- Cloud movement are done by physical calculations
- No loading (only when changing from big area to other big area)
- People couldn't believe when they saw the destruction of a road in realtime
- Staff motivation is up high and they're happy
- Nomura: Even though the quality is high we aim for more detailed graphics
- Big revelations and the world unveiling of the game at TGS
- The Versus screenshots show a fight with a weaponized Behemoth in a city
- All the screenshots in the interview are captured from the game running in real time.
Sounds like the world map and towns are back....can whiners please shut up now? re: TGS announcement I'd wager 10 gentlemans dollars that it's going multiplat (boo) God, seems like this game is taking FOREVER EDIT Seeing Noctis in a world map ala VII/VIII/IX for some reason gave me a HUGE nostalgia trip of playing those games

Oh my... I hope we get more details before TGS. Or thats there is a absolute Deluge of details, and i'm talking that SQ dedicates half of any stage presentation to Versus XIII. Also would love to see that City/Behemoth in a Online Screen. Set it as my desktop.

Apparently you have teammates in battle with you but they took them out because they haven't been officially announced and their clothes yet. They also removed the HUD as to not give to much away Is that why this game is taking so long? Their clothing? TGS cannot come soon enough

They are meant to be selling the characters costumes in certain clothes franchise around japan.

^ Hmm, you can look like the character before the character even exists. Be funny if you bought the costume and then they changed the character's outfit before release. Then you'd just look like an idiot.
It looks interesting, anyway, but I dunno if it'll be quite my style. I never really got into Kingdom Hearts, and they say the battles are similar, though the graphics certainly look different from KH.

I just hope this is better than XIII. After that abomination I've all but given up on Final Fantasy as a series. But this looks different, and different is good. Especially being different from XIII.

Probably where that word Versus comes in. But I read an article that stated that the game has so little to do with XIII that we should just think of it as another Final Fantasy game. ...So I don't see why they didn't make it XIV or XV. But here's my theory: this game is a bit edgier, darker, and maybe more realistic than what has been seen so far for the series. Maybe they thought that if people thought it had a connection to XIII, more people would buy it despite it being a bit different, XIII being the more generally accessable of the two games.
