No GOW3 thead? Really? I've been away for a while and see almost no new posts. That's sad. Anyway, just finished it. Good game. People seem to dislike the ending, but I liked it. The only thing I kinda dislike are the loose ends. Many things without explanation. And the open end leaves you wondering too much about the future of the World. Other than that, it's cool. The downsides. The game is too short. Also, not as epic as GOW2. That one had more variety in scenery, puzzles and fights. GOW3 relies too much on the cubes. Like, seriously, that's the most used scenery. A room full of cubes. :/ Also, not much replay value. Just one alternative skin. And the challenges don't count for me 'cause they're too hard. I can never complete GOW challenges. T_T But the downsides are minimized a bit because the game is just very fun to play. It could have been a bit better, but overall good game. I'd give it a 8.0 or 8.5.

I overall like the God of War series, but it was difficult for me to get into. Stylistically, I really didn't like the first game at all at first. I knew the graphics were good, but they seemed ugly to me, and off-putting. The music was not catchy or pleasent, and I found the hydra fight to just be annoying. Once I got to the middle section of the game though, I really started to find a lot of enjoyment in the gameplay, and ended up liking the game overall. I haven't been able to beat it a second time though. 8.3/10
God of War II, however, was an instant classic for me. The game not only looked but just felt prettier, the music was more rhythmic which I like for a video game background, even though the story was more simple there was a lot more dialouge and I actually grew to like Kratos, but most of all I liked the game better simply because it was longer and there was more of it. 8.9/10
Chains of Olympous was fun as hell. The ONLY problem with it was that it was short. If it had been as long as God of War II, it would've been the better game. 8.7/10
I don't have a PS3, but once I do I'll be playing God of War III.

I dunno...I actually prefer a game NOT to be pretty when it's founded on disembowelment and dismemberment. I prefer the game to be ugly like Dead Space or Fallout 3. I like a nice gritty, dirty world for stuff like that.
Another game to stress my point is Condemned.
I like GoW style hack and slash brawlers, but actually am not too big on GoW. I prefer Conan and Dante's Inferno.

I've got 3, and i quite like it. Mainly because its one of the few games i've purchased in recent years thats i have difficulty with. I die pretty freaking often, and its a bit of a slap in the face when it comes up to you saying 'maybe you should be playing on easy/spartan, instead of hard/titan that your playing. I've logged maybe 2 and a half hours on the game, and i think i've only made actually 40 minutes of progress into the story. But i've been enjoying it still. Except for those guys with the Axe's. They kill me too easily.

I'm playing it on Titan now. I won't even try Chaos.
Anyway, playing for the second times, I can see it's faults better. It feels like a rushed game.
It's quite clear what happened if you play the game and watch the videos. New director plus new system (their first ps3 game). They had too much to adapt and little time. This is noticeable, for example, when you pay attention to the game's graphics. It feels like they really polished Kratos and Poseidon, but left the other Gods behind. Also, few boss battles, and waisted oportunities (Hermes "fight" is anticlimatic).
So the end result is a good game, but with a good number of flaws and inferior to GOW2.

There's Chaos AFTER titan now?! or they just changed the names again? (god mode was the very hard instead of Titan in GoW1) holy crap... I love the series. I was so looking forward to GoW3, it looks so damn epic in the trailers, but after chains of olympus I didn't know what to expect... it didn't suck, but i't's not nearly half of what I expected after GoW2. They're really bringing the series to a dead alley, it seems.

God of War III like its predecessors have the same basic tactics as always, things rarely change. This could apply to many hack n' slash games. The gameplay is just the same, what makes it "better" is, I don't know, the graphics maybe? Damn right it is. But yeah, the game can be fun but there's little replay value, only if you're bored and wanna kill things you'll play it again. Still a fun experience though I wouldn't give it a high score, 7 or 8 for me. The best fight in the game was against Hercules anyway, the last battle with Zeus looked stupid. Like... 30 Zeus'? You gotta be shitin' me...

Something thats starting to annoy me about this game is enemy damage and hit detection. More Specifically, Enemies dealing damage to other enemies. Early on in the game, i noticed it a heap that they seemed to hurt each other. But now i'm noticing with the larger more impressive enemies that there attacks can go through one another and have no effect on each other. Also, the auto lock on for some of the distant and projectile attacks pisses me off. I sometimes feel like i don't have enough control over where the attacks are going .

Didn't really take in all of it in. So i wasn't really spoiled. Playing it still though, Hack and Slash titles always take me a while to finish for some reason.

Alright, i offically suck at this game. But i'm also starting to hate it and think its full of bad design choices. Like 'Monster Closets'. I know as a hack and Slash game i shouldn't have a problem with them, but they are a cheap way to extend a games length. There was one in the Labyrinth I found very annoying, and i ended up completing the area by spamming the distant grab/attack with most of the enemies. And now i'm getting stuck during one of the flying sections, and the problem there is i tend to die in the same spots because the freaking environment and Kratos do this combo on me where i hit something, and Kratos takes up 3/4 of the screen, so he hits the next environmental object, so he continues to take up 3/4 of the screen when he hits something that instantly kills him. I don't really consider this part bad design, its an allright change of pace to all the slaughtering of gods, demons and Mythical/Magical beings, and it looks pretty amazing. It would have been interesting to see how these scenes play out in first person, but then again, the whole game would feel pretty different with a change in camera option. I just plain suck and need to vent. I mean, everyone else finished this the weekend they got it, and i'm here a month later still playing.

I just beat it. Took me a couple weeks 'cause I had some other stuff to do besides. Overall, I loved it. It's kinda weird that Kratos starts killing gods right from the get-go, and I was never quite clear on why Athena is on Kratos' side, but I'm not complaining. The fights are huge, the gore is over-the-top, the sex minigame involves Aphrodite herself (though I would have preferred to kill her) Kratos is as angry as ever, it's just plain fun. The ending was a little hard to take, but I suppose it's pretty much the only way it can end.
