Hmmm...no Yamaoka huh? I'm saddened. However, he did do a ton, and left us with a freaking huge body of SH work. I remain skeptical on the new one till more is seen. As long as there is no defined line between danger (ie freezing over) and safe exploration, I think I could enjoy myself. Kinda kills it knowing nothing will attack you when you are walking around, no matter how on edge you are. I say bring it on!
Convict is interesting, and music seemed ok. I liked the guitar. Did anyone else think it looked really really vegetated for silent hill? Perhaps I just never noticed all the trees in the others. I know there were, but I don't remember it seeming so teeming with vegetation. I guess it's not a bad thing. Seems more small town then no trees I guess.

Well, the first few minutes of SH2 are in a forest. And quite a bit of SH4 takes place outside with trees. It's hard to say from what little bit is in the trailer what the whole game will constitute.
And yeah, I'm sad about Yamaoka as well, but will reserve judgment on the new guy until I actually play the game (even if the music itself is really good, if it's not incorporated appropriately into the settings in the game then it just won't work). I also agree with you about no defined line between danger and safety. That's part of what was so great about all the SH games, was that you never knew what was around the corner. Sometimes it would be nothing, but sometimes....

I like trees. Forests can be scary.
I would of course like most boss monsters to be directly connected to the story, but I think I would like one boss that just comes out of nowhere. Like you're walking down a road you have to go on to reach your destination and out of nowhere a beast leaps down from a building in game all of the sudden and starts attacking you. It would be able to attack quickly and vigorously and get several hits in but not take many shots to kill. That just sounds cool to me.

Yea, I was kind of alluding to shattered memories with the whole line between danger and safety thing. I gotta finish it soon, but will admit I'm kind of off put with the whole delineated sequences where all you can do is run. I will admit it is pretty realistic, as all I would do is run, but for a SH game, I need to know that around any corner could be something terrible. Also, it takes out the wonderful raising static thing that builds tension and makes you poop your pants. No matter what, I'm just glad someone is still making SH games for us to explore and try out. At least it gives the forum something to look forward to and discuss. It's half the fun. Bad or good, I hope they continue the title for forever. At least then we will have the possibility for magic ala SH2. In my opinion of course.

^ Yes, but I felt that the static, while really well used in the first game, wasn't so much after that, particularaly because there would be scary music as well, oftentimes making the radio unnecessary. What was great about the first game was that there would be silence, and then you would hear the radio quietly pop in, and get louder, and louder...

Hopefully it'll be unique and not a rehash like SHV.

Technically this is 'new' but it's for the most part not really. So instead of a new thread, I'll just post this here since it's just an 'updated' E3 trailer. However, there is some new footage, the graphics are cleaned up and it's in a higher resolution (even if it's still grainy in full screen. Wtf 1080p wru?) www.bloody-disgusting.com/news/videogames/1055Honestly, I think it looks highly intriguing and quite lovely. Although I think every SH has had amazing trailers whether it's the best or worst SH in the series.

I think it looks very playable! Dexter had a great sound, but I'm skeptical about anybody's abilities to bring around the Silent Hill feel, other than Yamaoka! Interesting though, how they're using an obvious antagonistic character to portray a protagonist huh? A prisoner. It kinda seems to be a clear indication of a follow - up movie if you ask me. Easier to convert! That, however, doesn't alarm me whatsoever, as I'm easy to entertain...as long as it's called "Silent Hill"!

I love the music that starts playing when he enters Silent Hill. It's so enchanting, I'm actually looking forward to hearing the rest of the soundtrack.

Well since different perspectives have been shown to already interfere with each other every now and then, that idea's not even remotely farfetched. Perhaps this could bring up the return of Cheryl as she returns to settle things with the Cult. Or maybe somebody else entirely, I dunno, some stranger, but still, it's an idea I think would be easy to run with.
