Mmmmm I'm torn. The shadows are severely lacking, as are the models, but the settings are great. In the comments of the YouTube video someone said that Team Silent is back but I didn't recognize any names. I did recognize Tom Hulett from SH:H Eh, I, too, shan't get my hopes up

Daniel Licht is an interesting choice. I'm not familiar with his work on Dexter, but he did the soundtrack to the fourth Hellraiser movie.
I'm not sure what to think of that. I own said soundtrack, and its well composed, however I was of the opinion that it didn't really fit Hellraiser, and was more of a general horror score.
I'm hoping he'll 'get' Silent Hill more then he did Hellraiser. That was nearly 15 years ago, so I'm sure he's grown as a composer.

All I know is this. A new game, a new chance of making a good SH game.
The modeling is bad, but this is just a teaser trailer. They'll have time to improve that. And I hope they do. I didn't like Homecoming's low res textures. Obviously that's not what will make or brake the game though.
I don't mind a new composer. I think it's better. A whole new team, doing something of their own. I liked the music in the trailer.
I have hope. I'm gonna wait and see. *crosses fingers*

I won't say anything about the graphics yet - this is an early trailer, things will probably change. I like the premise - prisoner accidentally getting his arse to SH? Nice. I bet he'll visit Toluca Prison again. I'm SO RELIEVED it's not an FPS. Looked far more traditional than expected. The impression I got when they were talking about combat - they said they didn't want to go to extremes like in Homecoming and in Shattered Memories - what if monsters will be sparse and very strong - killing each monster will count somehow (that is, if you manage)? It's ok. Well, when I heard the new music... It felt pretty...standard.

Yeah, I'm not so sure about the music in the trailer, but I do love Daniel Licht on Dexter, so I hope he pulls it off.
I like the idea of a prisoner escaping; it's different from someone looking for a probably already dead loved one anyway. Although the town really isn't going to have to try too hard to make the guy confront his fears, really.
Also, can anyone actually understand what the postman is saying? Maybe it's just me, but I can't make it out.

Also, can anyone actually understand what the postman is saying? Maybe it's just me, but I can't make it out. I only caught part of it, but I think it starts "I advise you to do something" and I think the next word is "bloodless". I can't make out the rest. I don't get the complaints about bad modeling. I think the whole trailer looked great. I'm glad they retained the 'peeling the skin off the world' effect from the movie and Homecoming. A prisoner is an interesting choice for a protagonist. I wonder if his guilt will change depending on your ending, a la The Suffering?

bad modelling but good lord very cinematic I like it so far, the town itself to me feels more creepier than normal.

Yeah, a prisioner isn't a bad choice I guess, as long as they make something compelling about it. I mean, technically Silent Hill 2 didn't have the most amazing story premise technically, I mean it's actually an AMNESIA story, but they just pull it off really well and it's very compelling, I hope this game has a good amount of soul put into it too, or else what they do come up with will just fall flat.

Not much shown but at least it's not an FPS, wooo! I realize that this is just a trailer but it looks like we'll have those tutorial "dreams" again with the guy dreaming up his escape, I'd like that idea

I must say, I am not really impressed. It looks a lot like Homecoming, and while that was an okay game I felt it lacked a lot of what made Silent Hill special in the first place. It's interesting with a convict as the main character though. Hopefully we will have several interesting side characters that just don't die after 5 min.

Meh, looks good enough to me, but I still don't get why the hell konami is still trying out new dev teams, when climax slowly but surely demonstrated they deserve the torch.
Also, the chars model look ok... and they have loads of time to polish it anyway. I only found pretty weird the way that guy was holding his flashlight... what an unnatural arm position.
I'd say it's about time to stop hoping to get the quality we got with the old japanese team, Climax offered an all new way of styling the town, and I am, if not completely happy, at least satisfied enough. Hell, at least they let go of the cult already and offered us a psychological ride with a ball twisting plot... twist.

Hell, at least they let go of the cult already and offered us a psychological ride with a ball twisting plot... twist. I agree. Why don't Konami want to stick with just one developer team? Especially now that Shattered Memories seems to have gotten such praise compared to Homecoming. I am really afraid Konami is selling out the franchise though, games will probably be developed faster if they have different teams on it all the time, which means more money. That's the cynical part of me speaking though. :/ It would have been interesting to see the developers of Homecoming make a new game and try to fix all the mistakes and answer the critic that followed the game. I'm afraid with the shifting teams they will never get to learn of the mistakes and it'll take some time to get to another super Silent Hill title (which imo is something alike the first three games).

Hmm, I just had a thought. In Silent Hill, a person is able to see things that are related to his/her subcsonscious. What if in this future title the main character would be able to see OTHER people's subconscious Silent Hill worlds. In other words, each level would be representative of one of the characters subconscious, and the main character's purpose would be to help the characters figure out and overcome their psychological problems. You would be like how Pyramid Head was for James, helping him understanding his dark side and his past. On that note, the characters you're helping could be boss fights. Taking it furthur, there could be an organization operating the whole thing, giving you missions as to what people you're supposed to help and how. If it were a big game, you might even be able to choose which missions you want to do. (Which leads to MMO-ish thoughts, but that's a bit far. I think the name for a game like that would be Silent Hill World. It's kinda far fetched, but the series needs to go SOMEWHERE, and the different levels would be very unique, plus you'd be a real hero/heroine. What do you think?
