Shacknews.com got their hands on some Downpour screen shots as well as a short sample from the soundtrack. Registration is required to get the sample, but I've been using that site for years. They don't spam you or sell your email address. Personally, I like the aesthetics of the screen shots, and the soundtrack sample fits right in with the rest of the series.

I actually DELIBERATED with myself on whether or not to click that screen shot link. I remember back with 4 and Homecoming I was scavenging around for any info I could get and reading the same info over and over. I actually cared then. This game is definently going to have to do better than those two to make me care about the next one.

Haven't seen the logo that's on the site with the short sample.

I'm still a bit unsure about this. The graphics are good and it looks atmospheric, but I'm not sure it looks like a typical Silent Hill game. To be honest PS3/360 graphics don't have that grainy sheen to them that I grew fond of on older consoles.
The music, however, I actually quite like. It's certainly something I could get used to and it has that eerie twang to it that I like in my horror games. Again, it's not typical Silent Hill, but I can really see it fitting in.

So far as I'm concerned, I don't want it to look like a typical Silent Hill game. These new developers have always taken what has become a clichéd Silent Hill look. They always go for a rusty-blood otherworld, they always have cleavage-y nurses, they have even robbed old creature designs.
If this develper can change it up, more power to them.
The graphics seem a little rough to me though. Maybe I've been spoiled by games like Red Dead Redemption, but this game's hair rendering looks pretty bad, and the hands of that cop with the gun look pretty PS1 quality. I think we have the ability with the current generation to do better than this.

I'm liking it to an extent, I don't expect much and that lets me avoid focus in comparing it with the well loved and known SH games (sucks a bit that you have to expect lesser games from them to actually enjoy the new titles, but oh well), it's always nice to be surprised with things like SH shattered memories, which wasn't exactly a revolution in the SH world, but was a much more worthy new experience than the last two ones.
About graphics, at the same time I agree and I don't with Lolli, I don't get the same chills with such polished things, but in those terms Homecoming, and SH4 I think, did well with the noisy but not just plain grainy screen like before, I like looking at gruesome details. And I admit, with those nurses in HC I kinda wished there was a model viewer mush like in Resident Evil 4-5...
