The Animus updates are, oddly enough, tied to the series. ACII Rebecca updates the firmware to 2.0 and in III it'll be 3.0 ACIII Naval WarfareJust skip to the 11:50 mark Yeah, the edition that comes with the encyclopedia is for the Ubisoft workship. The statue of the Join or Die edition is really tempting. But not temping enough for me to import the game Oh, well, I got the Loot Chest edition for Borderlands 2, that should be enough CE for one year ;D

I'm not sure what it is about Assassin's Creed, but I can NEVER get excited about this series. I've played all but one of them now, Revelations and frankly with the exception of AC1, they're good games. But they're too damn similar.
In this regard it's not a lot different that Call of Duty. New year, new AC game, like clockwork. And they are almost all the same with small tweaks and different stories. Again, like CoD.
Think I'll be passing on 3 like I did with Revelations. Though I MAY get the Vita spin off, it sounds interesting enough and I don't have anything like it for the Vita. Maybe.

I gotta say, I've never been excited about this series either. I played a bit of AC1 and nearly all of AC2, but this next game does have me intrigued at least. The colonial setting is quite a bit different than what we've seen from Assassin's creed in the past; it seems like there will be an emphasis on moving through treetops and combating animals. That naval warfare looks pretty cool too.

More Liberation details, via KotakuA few other things I noticed about the game: Liberation has a dedicated jump button, the X button. The right trigger runs, but doesn’t automatically jump at ledges — instead, you have to press X to jump. That’s a big change from a series that typically hasn’t had a real jump button. I watched a sequence similar to more recent console games’ horse and buggy chase sequences; the demonstrator tapped the touch screen to increase the horses’ speed and held his finger down to make them slow down. I’m unsold on how fun this would be, but then, I didn’t like those sequences in the console games either. The game will have an economy like in the console games, though it will be different and “exclusive to the Vita,” whatever that means. We have confirmation on the alligators in the bayou sections. There will be alligators. Alligators! The top devs did the requisite fact-finding trip to New Orleans, and a lot of the city’s famous buildings are looking mighty nice. Aveline’s animations are totally new, and use the same animation tools as Assassin’s Creed III; Aveline has a lot of Connor’s moves, including pulling up an enemy as a human shield when faced with gunmen. Aveline has a machete, which I didn’t see used, and a blow-gun, which I did. While she was in one of the series’ ubiquitous haystacks, she fired off a dart that poisoned one guard, luring another over to his location for a good neck-stabbing. The characters in the game are all based on real historical figures, with the exception of Aveline herself; she’s an amalgamation. If a character in the game dies, they died in real life at the same time

I think this was posted here but I'm still a fan of this one: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDRR-b979QAACIII: Liberation looks good but I'm no longer a handheld gamer. I do wish that after a certain time PSP/V games come to PS3. Although I understand this makes the handheld pointless, but still

Think i posted about that one back in the revelations thread , After a little actual research, seems to be the NECA replica, so the blade does indeed extend, but it doesn't have the 'ring' modification, so you need to press the button in the picture.

Are you getting any of the CE?
They have one planned for NA but, boy, are they dragging their feet about revealing it

I've got the Join or Die edition pre-ordered, So the 'wooden' box, George Washingtons diary, The game and the Coin. I couldn't justify getting the one with the statue, cause i wouldn't know where to put it (I've got my Master Assassin Ezio(AC2) standing atop the Codec Box (AC:B) with the Animus Edition box (AC:R) behind him, and it looks good, but the ACIII statue is too large. I'd probably have ordered the Gauntlet if i'd ordered from EBgames australia, but i ordered else ware.

I have a feeling NA will get the Freedom Edition. I REALLY like the artwork for the Join or Die edition.
If the NA CE is good I plan on buying it but I get the feeling its going to be weak like the ACR Limited Edition.
I only recently got into the Collector's edition thing. My first one was for Fallout New Vegas so I'll only get one if I really like the series (AC, Dead Space, Fallout, and Borderlands for this generation)
Someone at the PS3Trophies.org forum had an interesting thought on the plot of ACIII:
What if there is some sort of Templar Civil War happening?Could explain why Connor kills Templars on both sides of the US Civil War. Also during the E3 trailer George Washington looks nervous when Connor kills the Templar. Maybe some Templars disagree with the Order's methods or something.
I think it'd be an interesting story idea.
Also, I hope Desmond's father has a bigger role in ACIII, just to hear John De Lancie (I'm a Star Trek nerd)
He also plays Professor Quadwrangle in the upcoming game Quantum Conundrum. I love it when actors play roles that are nods to previous roles ;D

I'm hoping that means something. I wouldn't be surprised if we see people swapping sides in both the past and present, since we're suppose to be exploring the 'grey' area of the war between Templar's and the Assassin's. We've had the precedence set with Stillman and Cross. Edit: And ... now my PS3 is dead... 3 months, i need a new one. Edit 2: 4th of July Teaser Trailer? dunno if there's going to be another one in 2 days. edit 3: US LE announced, $120 nets you a 9.4 Inch Connor Statue (thats about the same size as the Euro one), a AC inspired Colonial flag, and a belt buckle, plus as a bonus, a copy of the game. There's a digital download PC edition, that seems to come with washingtons notebook.

Ah, man, that sucks. My PS3 died a month before Brotherhood came out so I was scrambling to get my finances in order. Hopefully you back up your saves regularly. I am so let down by the NA CE it isn't even funny. A belt buckle with with the III on it makes it look cheap. I like items that look like they could belong in that games world. So if the buckle only had the Assassin insignia then I could've let it slide. The thing that I want most in that CE is the flag. The one you posted and that Destructoid posted on their sites are of a higher quality than what will be in the CE and Ubi has confirmed that. It's heavy duty cloth and stitching and looks AMAZING. The one in the CE will probably be some cheap screen print version.

I'm going to put one on lay buy/away, if i put down a little money each week, i should have it come september, there are some sales on at the moment, so maybe i can take advantage of that. The flag does look cool, shame about the belt buckle.

I'm going to skip the ACIII CE for now. A) I don't want to lose my steelbook B) I don't think it's worth $120 C) You can still get ACB CE on Amazon for $60 (justification that I can wait for a price drop and still get one) D) Borderlands 2 ruined CE's for me. For $150 you get a STUPID amount of stuff. Physical and digital with their Premere Club (which comes at every retailer with every pre-order) And even if the ACIII CE actually does sell out (which I doubt) I won't lose any sleep over it. I wanted the CE to be good but I'm not going to support crappy CE's as it'll send a message that they can charge more, offer less, and people will still buy it

Could always import a better one from oversea's, the AU ones tend to sell out though. Then again, the US dollar isn't what it use to be, so there's no incentive really. And the Borderlands 2 one is ridiculous. I don't think we're even getting it anymore. It was meant to be a exclusive to one store, but then they're not advertising it anymore.
