Tis true, Darkhorse is kind've notorious for that. Though, given the content, I find Berserk essentially priceless.
I'm happy someone else reads it here though. I'm fortunate to have been reading them as they were released here, so I wasn't dropping a ton of money just to catch up.
I was always a pretty huge fan but I didn't go batshit crazy over it until book 34. Well the end of book 33 made me go WHOAH, then I read the fansubs of book 34 and lost my shit over it.
Miura goes on some pretty lengthy breaks between episodes though sometimes. It's frustrating. Consider yourself somewhat lucky for being only on book 17. The pace the series comes out sometimes, you're almost better off taking your sweet time getting into it.
Though you're at the next major plot point! Have fun with books 20-21! 22 is my second fave too~ lolz

Shutter Island. I'm really not one for mystery novels, but this one is so gripping I can't wait to find out what happens. I have yet to see the film though, and don't want anything spoiling for me until I've finished the book.

A Year of Roses (Revised Edition) - Stephen Scanniello Sometimes it's nice to slow down and think about peaceful pursuits. I'm totally growing Wildfires and Anastasias when I move out. Burgundy Icebergs are uber pretty too. Papa Meillands smell the best, not sure if I can handle the maintenance though. Black Baccaras for Halloween. (Don't know how to make them last though....) -_-

King's Dark Tower III, The Waste Lands. Didn't like it as well as the first two. Chapter 1 was fantastic, the best part of the series yet. But most of chapters 2 and 3 was incredibly boring, and parts of 5 could drag too. I just really hated most of the parts where Jake was by himself. But there were always enough good parts along the way to keep me going, and Blaine is easily one of my favorite characters yet, the last chapter felt very memorable to me. This was a case where it was good to read the last page before the rest of the book, I knew it was going to end in a cliffhanger so I bought the fourth book in advance.
Even though this one was my least favorite, I think my opinion of the series as a whole has been greatly enhanced somehow. Like, the good parts of the Waste Lands increased my opinion of both the book and the series, but the bad parts only detracted from my opinion of the book. All in all, I'm very happy I have the next book handy and I feel fairly confident now that I'll read all of them. I've heard some crappy things about the later books, but I feel like as long as there are some good parts in each book I won't really care. It'd be nice if Wizard and Glass ended up a little better than this one though.
How I'd rate each book (based on memory, which is a little fuzzy):
Gunslinger: 7 Drawing 3: 9 Waste Lan: 5.5
Started Wizard and Glass. The writing seems to be of a more sturdy and professional quality this time out.

Been a while, so I'll double post.
Didn't know where else to put this. There's a lot of kids books cause I don't read as much as I used to, but there's a solid variety.
Top 30 books:
1. Hatchet 2. Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheniox 3. It 4. The Amber Spyglass 5. Different Seasons 6. Ramona the Pest 7. The Call of the Wild (Great Illustrated Classics Edition) 8. Homecoming 9. Harry Potter and the Prisioner of Azkaban 10. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 11. Brian's Winter 12. The Crow Girl 13. She's Come Undone 14. Here Today 15. Bag of Bones 16. Lucas 17. Fall of a Kingdom 18. Captain Underpants and the Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafateria Ladies From Outer Space (and the Subsequent Assault of the Equally Evil Lunchroom Zombie Nerds) 19. The Subtle Knife 20. The Wave 21. To Kill a Mockingbird 22. Don't Get Caught Driving the School Bus 23. White Fang 24. Charlie Bone and the Time Twister 25. The Last Dog on Earth 26. Full Tilt 27. The River 28. The Golden Compass 29. Double Fudge 30. Speak
In an event that would be very difficult to explain, Hatchet actually let me forgive one of my best friends once.

Hatchet, The River, and Brian's Winter are easily some of my favorite books of all time.
As for myself, when I have the chance to read as of late, I finally finished reading Ghost in the Wires by Kevin Mitnick. Absolutely loved how he tells the story in a way that people who know nothing about computers can read his book and that people who are experts in the field can pick it up just as well.
I just recently finished reading Daemon by Daniel Suarez and started reading its sequel Freedom(TM) almost immediately. Absolutely loved every bit of it and I can't remember the last time in recent history I found a fictional book so engrossing. For anyone who likes any kind of cyberpunk, alternative reality, socially analytical story, or just stories involving MMOs, FPS, and advanced pseudo-AI should read these books.
They are awesome.

Kim Harrison-Pale Demon Mark Morris-Dead Island: The Book. It differs slightly from the game, but that's what I like about it. Unpredictability.

I just recently finished The Talisman, 'Salem's Lot, and Black House. Now I'm tunneling through The Dark Half. I'm gonna see how far down the line of King's books I can go without coming up for air.

Sherlock Holmes Collection So Silver Bright (Theatre Illuminata) -When I can be bothered. I'm busy with many other things that are considerably demanding. Too bad reading fiction isn't an entry-level profession... that'd be too cool.
