Right having only played SH2 once before and leaving it due to not really enjoying it at the time, I've had more time recently to play this currently up to the bit James meets Eddie first time around, I really forgot how much he pukes!! It is like the entire contents on his body the wrong way!
Anyways how does SH2 rank for you? as said I am one of the few that like SH2 but not my number 1 fave of the series story is great but I dunno was just missing something for me. Non the less enjoyable, will do a write up once I've completed it again.

Rank, you say? I love ranking things!
SH2 ranks first for me. It's my favorite game of all time, my second favorite being the first game. I love the atmosphere, graphics, story, and characters (although Angela kindof annoys me.)
The only place SH2 falls short for me is combat. It feels rather simple and boring. I would say that the first game has the best gameplay in the series.

I love Larua. I really feel sorry for her. Children in real life are way more annoying.

SH2 is also my favourite of the series, well I consider it the best in terms of plot development, but I actually feel more attached to heather and the rest of the SH3 gang. In any case, SH2 is on my top 100 of best games of all time ranking as the second, just bellow Shadow of The Colossus.

SH2 is my favourite too. The story, plot, atmosphere, everything about it is enjoyable. The plot twist was also a big mind fuck for me, the voice acting was top notch and the characters all had real problems, not being half of a soul, not being part of a ritual, REAL problems that everyday people can have.

SH2 is my favorite in terms of plot, but something about SH3 puts it at the top of my list. SH3, 2, 1, 4, 0, Homecoming.

It's still my favorite Silent Hill. Also still one of my favorite games of all time. I can't really decide. I also don't have enough coffee in my blood right now to contemplate it.
In terms of plot, it's easily the best in the series. I'm so sick of the rituals and the cult. It's kinda sad that they did that in the second game yet now we have 4 other games that are all cult, cult, cult omg ritual.
As Lolli stated above, it's about real problems and everyday people. That's what made it so damn special to all of us.
In terms of gameplay though, it's the worst in the series and one of the worst in survival horror history. It's just awful. It works just enough that the game is playable ~ ~

Enjoying it a bit more I play it I will reserve judgement on story opinion until I have completed the game just being cautious on this as I've always had SH2 thrown at me which has put me off a bit. So far so good

It's kinda sad that they did that in the second game yet now we have 4 other games that are all cult, cult, cult omg ritual. Exactly, I want more plot lines like SH2 not the constant cult cult cult thing being shoved down our throats. Silent Hill was established as being its own being in SH2, it had the ability to call people to the town to punish them for their sins, it was personified but since the second game every other game has shoved the cult in there and destroyed any mystery the town itself could have had.

right just finished the game story was good I liked it, the town itself the fog immense totally so thick you'd think something was steaming, the levels easy to follow, voice acting and dialogue very very good. Overall I like the game, the story, characters and story but it's not my favourite. Only thing is gameplay I agree with my man tabris on this, I just didn't connect with this one as most people did I am glad I played it mind you defo did not miss out SH2 ost probably joint fave

Nothing is the same after Room 312.
That darn moment is one of the best scenes I've ever seen, not just in games, but all around. The camera pans just long enough for the player to sink into the same gut-wrenching truth James has finally realised - and then when you replay the game, you find out it teased you, deliberately teased you, from the very beginning and had hints about the truth all the time. All the damn time.
And you were too stupid to understand. Too weak.
That's what makes this game so special and unique.
Also, I find the gameplay rather charming. It's supposed to be inaccessible, you're a clerk with possible alcohol issues in a deranged town. :/

And you were too stupid to understand. Too weak. :/ What's REALLY crazy is at the beginning of the game when James gets the radio, if you listen closely to the static, there's hands down the biggest spoiler in gaming history right there. I'll say it down in a spoiler. Mary says on the radio, 'Why did you kill me?' But naturally James is like, huh? Guess it's broken. Little denial buddy? Just a little? Took me years to process what she said. Even if someone caught onto that the first time, I don't think they'd necessarily process what that means either.
