Blackdog, if you don't mind gore, I'd recommend Manhunt. You seem to like stealth based games well enough, and you like horror, so as long as you can tolerate the level of violence and gore, you might enjoy that.

Gore with plot and purpose is love for me. I'll look it up and see if I can get a good price. £10 was my only Christmas gift this year and I want to spend it well. Edit: So cheap! But I've just noticed my trainers. What to do?

Well, there's some purpose to Manhunt's gore. It's a snuff film. One you have to partake in unwillingly.
It's actually a pretty good game.

Ah Manhunt! I liked that game. It had a good atmosphere. And by "good" I mean "very heavy". I heard Manhunt 2 isn't very good though. A pity. But I'll take a look at the AO PC version anyway.

Actually Manhunt 2 was damn good. Much better story than the first game. But overall I did like the first game more.
I played the PS2 version and uncensored it via a Code Breaker device.

Manhunt 2 is a great game if you haven't played the first one or if you didn't like the first one that much. The second one just feels clunky but the story is indeed much better. This clunkyness might be because I played the earliest leaked one that wasn't censored but I doubt they improved the character movement over that one month or so.

Actually the leaked version played like total shit compared to the final version. So that probably was the problem.
The game is actually extremely easy to uncensor via a Code Breaker on the PS2. As simple as putting in a couple lines of text.

One of the nicer games I've played recently was the New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii console. Anybody who's a sucker for oldschool games will probably get as much of a kick out of this as I did, despite how repetitive the Mario franchise has always been.
The game itself is a remake of the earlier Mario games, and, like I said about that repetitiveness, you're out to get Peach from Bowser. While the new appearance makes single-player good for a few playthroughs, the fun is with multi-player. Four people crowded into one screen can be hysterical to the point where even the occasional resulting death isn't taken personal by anybody but the most babyish. The controls are simple for the kids to join in too, which shouldn't be that surprising, considering it is a Nintendo game.
I'd recommend it for anybody looking for some laid-back, multi-player fun outside of Halo-esque gameplay.

Donkey Kong Country Returns looks AMAZING. Gotta get that soon.
I liked both New Super Mario Bros. Wii and Super Mario Galaxy 2, but I think I liked the latter a little more than the former.

While the Galaxy games were fine in their own way, what wins me over with the NMB is, like I said, the multiplayer format. Throwing one's neice into a pit, there's very little else like it. Donkey Kong Country Returns looks AMAZING. Gotta get that soon. I agree. And although it's yet to be out, I wouldn't mind hooking into the next Legend of Zelda game, either.
