suppose your right there. You do see that alot. Hell i nearly canceled my Pre-order for Prince of Persia when they first showed of the 'Hand of Faith' thing.
I'm probably only commenting about it because i've already got some what of a negative attitude towards the game. Everything they've shown so far has just looked like boring variations of the already boring enemies from 4. With the possible excpetion of some of (what i assume are) boss battles from the trailers, and even those look to be a bit of a weak in design. Look at me, bitching. think i'll go cancel my pre-order

Yeah...but Prince of Persia actually did disappoint me. I'm doubting RE5 will. Hell I have the collector's edition preordered lol.
I not only love the RE series, but 4 was do damn enjoyable to play, that I own it on three different consoles...so I'm doubting RE5 will let me down.

I was never very good at playing the old RE games. Hell, I couldn't even aim straight so the only game I've ever actually owned is RE4. As long as RE5 is easy to handle I'm not too bothered about Sheva or any of the other stuff ppl are complaining about.

All I really wanted was a game as polished and badass as Re4. So in that sense, I think Re5 is gonna deliver tenfold for me.

Chainsaw enemy, again Well, I suppose there is only so much you can do with zombies but then again, the RE series lives off zombies... I can't decide which of my views I agree with more

I'm gonna have so much fun with this game...between this and Street Fighter IV...damn... African Chainsaw man doesn't look as cool as Spaniard Hillbilly Chainsaw Man, Dr. Salvador though... I just love chainsaws and burlap sack headed maniacs... Oh...and Sheva is SO hot...

Having played the demo a bit, I'm off-put by more than I'd hoped to be. But there's still plenty to enjoy about it, and I'm planning to treat this as exactly what it is: an experience with a demo.

So I saw a bad trailer for this game, where the person was just getting their ass kicked- so at first I didn't think it was gonna be that great. So I watched abetter one now... and I now can't wait for it to come out!

I played the demo last night. I personally thought it kicked ass. Awesome graphics and hordes of zombies for me to blast. Definitely had to set the aim speed to fastest though. Helps turning too.

Remember all PS3-only-users that the RE5 demo get's released on PSN TODAY. So then we can all check it out. I am intruiged about it right now, as I've heard MANY varied views on it. Seems like alot of the people who heavily enjoyed RE4 didn't like this too much. And old-school players of the series seems to full out hate it. I'm not expecting too much, so we'll see how it turns out. Hopefully, I will be pleasantly surprised. Plus, co-op is always fun damnit.

Played the game tonight, as as a huge fan of the series, and a person who owns RE4 on three different consoles, I thought it kicked fucking ass. I'm VERY impressed by what I played. Gameplay wise it's near identical to RE4, so people who loved RE4 and say they hate it are full of shit. They were just expecting something groundbreaking and different, and it's not.
Co-op was a blast with my buddy.

Well, just played the demo a minute ago in co-op, and dear god........i never thought anyone would try to make a game where you play as a breezeblock, but this was it it seems..>_o; The controls were special to say the least, such as having to grow an extra finger to run AND be facing where you are aiming to get to. And well, you know how we tell kids not to run with scissors or knives? That is because any creature capable of carrying said objects CAN run with them! But no, not Chris or Sheva, they have to use too much brainpower utilising their thumbs or something and therefore cannot even step forward slightly with their toothpicks of doom.. I think if we go for another try then some adjusting of aim speed and such will be a must as i have seen sloths with quicker movements, although whenever there was call for an assisted jump it took no effort for Chris to throw Sheva quite an impressive distance with both showing a level of agility totally absent from the gameplay itself. Oh, and Chris can break windows with his face, but cannot hop to reach a ladder about six centimeters above his head, bless 'im. And being a bit of a die-hard fan of the first three RE games, i was once again disappointed to see no zombies, but hoardes of "infected" bods who were about as intimidating as raving hobos you find outside McD's after 10pm....although, if one of those hobos was to charge at you, i doubt they would stop two feet away to reconsider their attack, kinda like the infected bods did..maybe they just did it to take the piss outta the fact that if you readied your knife then you would be left flailing at them for a bit when they halted juuuust out of range...XD I suppose in a way i am actually intrigued about the plot of this game though, if just to find out why there is a cave troll with chun-li bracelets and a disturbingly well groomed beard, or who is going around giving that and the pincushion ballroom glove-wearing executioner stitches... I apologise for my harsh tone here but hell, i hated this demo, like the hate one has for the sound of nails on chalkboard only with the difference that i could get some level of enjoyment from tormenting people with the chalkboard... Puck you Resi Evil, Puck you so so much.. Oh, graphically it WAS shiny, i will grant them that. (and for the record, i disliked RE 4 immensley, if just for the fairytale adventure bs vibe it had.¬_¬ So yeah, crotchety fan of da ol'skool...or something. )

Yeah, if you disliked RE4, I can see you disliking RE5. The controls are IDENTICAL in this game as they were in 4. Though the aiming is sloth like, but I quickly adjusted it in the options, and made things a lot more smooth.
I was one of the people who could kill most anything with a knife in RE4...so the controls don't phase me in the least. These controls are still a GODSEND compared to those featured in the first three games/Code V. In fact the controls are fairly similar, but there's more movement and more aiming in Re4/5. That's what gets me the most about people bashing the controls. Maybe these people have forgotten what the first 3 games controlled like...or Re4 for that matter.
The game is a brighter, prettier RE4 with Co-op, and for me, that's not a bad thing. I love that even though the African environments are bright, they still hold a level of depressiveness, like a condemned building does. It feels dirty, unsafe and generally not somewhere you'd want to be, with or without the infected villagers running around.
The interior areas reminded me of a mixture between those found in Metal Gear Solid 4 mixed with those in Condemned 1/2. I'd say it works well, and is about as morbid and sullen as you can get in the dry heat of an African day, without being in the jungle that is.
My only real complaint is that I'm just not that fond of Chris Redfield's new look. Well, that and I kinda miss the old Re4 inventory system, though the new one is more suited to co-op play.
I REALLY hope a Mercenaries type mode is put into this game, like Re4/3. The one from 4 would work especially well if played co-op online. I'd really like to see that.
Overall, I'm damned excited to own the game, and pretty excited to download the demo for myself on PSN.

You'll be happy to know that a Mercenaries-mode is in the works for it, and not only that, but apperantly so you can play it (if I recall correctly at least) co-operativley and competitive even.
I've been playing the demo quite a bit today. Two levels with Pseudosapien, one level in Single-Player and then a couple of turns with a mate via PSN. I got to be honest, playing it with a mate via PSN was by far the best of the three. Not only did you have that sucky split-screen (seriously, it DOES look like crap like that), but you can enjoy it so much more. Plus, no AI-controlled partner, so you can make real strategies.
I used to be quite heavy on the Resident Evil games, I LOVED 4, but probably enjoyed the old-school ones a bit more. Have to say though, the controls in 5 feels clunky. In a bad way. At times it feels like controlling a walking fridge with puppies stuck under the arms, but then he all of a sudden (with button prompts) makes all these hardcore-wicked-ass-super-duper things that require some massive agility. Like when jumping through a window, head first, every time.
Weapons feel, and sounds, very peashootery, except the shotgun which packs quite a punch and has a devestating sound. Enemy-wise, it feels like RE4. Which I am quite... in-different against I guess. I was allready used to the non-zombie approach they went for, so this wasn't really a big surprise.
This won't be a day 1 purchase, but who knows, when it's gone down in price, I might buy the full-version for some good co-op action with my buddies.
