Downloading off the PSN now. Looks like this'll be my survival horror fix seeing as I beat the hell out of Dead Space (Platinum Trophy, baby!) and Homecoming wasn't worth the Blu-ray it was printed on. RE4 was hit and miss for me. I like the old school RE games (Yes, even with the tank controls). The isolation. The grim situation. The hoards of zombies. Now you mow down an entire village and don't bat an eye. I liked the customizable weapons and the Merc mode. I wasn't too keen on the parasite 'rage' people but whatever EDIT I do like the fact that we will learn about the Progenitor (read: Mother) Virus in this one. I know in Ø they said the Mother Virus came from a mix of the Ebola Virus and Leech DNA (and Lisa Trevor's body modified it further to what we now love and fear) but maybe it originated from the parasite? I dunno EDIT II First review in kotaku.com/5144458/the-first-resident-evil-5-review-is-inThis is for PS3 owners, there will be a 5GB install playstation.joystiq.com/2009/02/02/yes-resident-evil-5-has-a-5gb-install/I'm glad I upgraded my PS3 to 160GB for 60 bucks ;D

I personally LOVED the demo. I've been a fan of the RE games since the first one, and personally I liked 4 the best. Although I think the Wii version of 4 was ultimately the best version of it, I first played it on GameCube and PS2 and loved it all three times.
That being said, I was glad RE5 didn't change the gameplay at all, other than the controls took a bit of getting used to. I can't wait to try online co-op and the day this game comes out.

I like the demo a lot. I suggest control scheme C, because it's just like RE4 but you can still strafe.

I've discovered my problem:
I played too much Dead Space.
In Dead Space you aim with L1 and fire with R1
I need to get used to RE5's controls I guess
EDIT OPTION B!!!!!! Its just like Dead Space
Now I just have to get use to Chris' hulking muscles taking up most of my screen

I just watched the movie Resident Evil Degeneration (very good, by the way) and in it, the G-Virus is brought back and creates another monster very similar to the one in Resident Evil 2. At the very end, the main pharmacuetical corporation in the movie is bought out by the Tricell Corporation, which is in Resident Evil 5 somehow. At the end it shows Tricell people in Biohazard suits going through the wreckage of where the G-Virus was unleased, and one of the Tricell guys collects a piece of the G-Virus monster and puts it in a case and carries it off.
This got me thinking: With everyone complaining that the Resident Evil games are straying away from the traditional zombies and T and G-Virus monsters, maybe they're wrong. I have a feeling something similar to the G-Virus, if not the G-Virus itself, will make an appearance in Resident Evil 5.

Played the demo for a bit and I gotta ask:
Is not being able to run and shoot annoying anyone else?

Doesn't annoy me at all. I personally love the controls.

Doesn't annoy me at all. I personally love the controls. Yep, I agree with Zombie here. Never was able to run and shoot simultaneously in previous RE games either. I'm used to it.

Glad you liked the demo Vaco. The controls do take some getting used to, but once you do they work well.

Meh, I'll have to get used to it I guess.
For some reason I want a game based on the 28 Days Later series. If pulled off correctly it could be fricken' amazing.

Speaking of movies, I wish we could have a real RE movie. Not the bullshit that's out now, no fuck all that.
I mean an actual movie based from the first game. Make it based from the REmake on the GC, since it added some new story bits that worked well. Man...if you've ever read S.D. Perry's RE novels, you'll understand my want of this, and possibly even my frustration and utter disappointment at what we got instead...

I actually liked the books, especially the original ones (Caliban Cove, Underworld)

I downloaded and played the 360 demo a few days ago. First impressions are that it looks pretty bloody good (but then pretty much everything does nowadays) but it took me a while to get used to the controls. For one, I'm not used to playing Resi games on a 360 pad and for two, it's a pain that the X button is "fire" and the A button is "run": that just doesn't work in my mind! XD Many times, I was shouting at Chris, "Why won't you run?!!!!! I'm holding the but-.....oh. *facepalm*" and that's not good when you have a giant monster thing with a sack over his head and a giant axe about to split you in half. -___- I only hope the controls are more customisable in the finished version but if not, i'll just have to try and get used to it.
Combat is pretty much the same as Resi 4 but with even more enemies trying to smack you up, so it was pretty hectic but good fun. As for Sheva, she's pretty handy most of the time because she'll pick off the zombies as they come into a room and she's a much better shot than me, but she never seems to shoot the ones you actually need her to. In one of the stages in the demo, you have to fight the Chainsaw guy (who incidentally seems a lot less aggressive than old Dr Salvador....) and I had a handgun and a few rifle bullets to try and beat him with; she was armed with a machine gun, yet she kept shooting at the ordinary zombies while Chainsaw guy was charging towards me! It would be handy if you could tell her which enemies to hit, unless you can and I just didn't see it - which is another problem for me since it's nearly impossible to read the small help text on an SD TV, but i can't really blame Capcom for my poverty. XD
So yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I still know nothing about the plot because I haven't bothered to research it; all I know is what i've seen in the trailers. It'll certainly keep me entertained for a few weeks and I might even convince my boyfriend to play co-op with me.

I actually liked the books, especially the original ones (Caliban Cove, Underworld) Caliban Cove was my favorite of the books, but I guess it's biased since Rebecca is my favorite RE character. Oh, and Angelsthanatos, you can change the controls in the demo. You can make it so you shoot with the triggers. I thought it defaulted at that actually.
