It sounds brilliant but it still feels so wasted. This doesn't feel necessary. So many right ideas that just shouldn't be done for this.
The psycological aspects and the ice theme sound intriguing. Having to run and not being able to fight sounds fun.
Goddammit though why? This should've just been a new game.
Remake SH1 as SH1 and leave all this shit for something else!
Either way though... I do look forward to it. I'll probably pick up a Wii down the road to play this. It sounds fun and like a massive headtrip that you can play over and over again.
I want a remake of SH1 but not like this! Not like this at all ~ ~
Argh I'm so angry at this.

I wonder if the glasses will make Harry more intelligant? Harry: "huh, radio, what's going on with that radio?" *Puts on glasses*Harry: "Well that noise is clearly the superposition of white noise and other disturbing influances on the signal, either caused by thermal noise and other electronic noise from receiver input circuits or by interferance from radiated electromagnetic noise picked up by the receiver's antenna." Player: "Whaaaaaa?"

For crying out loud, if you're making a new SH game with a change in gameplay elements, good, I'm all for it, but butchering (pun lol) the core story? What has the world come to? Harry with an iPhone rip-off? Jeebus. Still, if it's coming for the PSP, I'll play it.

This is what I sounded like when I read this horseshit Reenactment AudioNo combat? Cellphone with GPS elements and camera (Is this a new Condemned?) On the Wii? All around fuck up of the SH series The SH series is OFFICIALLY over. Homecoming was the final nail in the coffin. Shattered Dreams is the lit stick of TNT they left in the coffin before the lid was nailed shut

I sorta learned to like the last couple of SH games, I think they're actually pretty good in their own way. But apart from that, I'm with you Deus. This . . . this is bordering on blasphemy. It's not gonna go over well.
Or, as "Egon" Mason might put it . . . Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of angst, frustration and overprotectiveness inherent in the average Silent Hill fan. Based on this morning's reading, it would be a Twinkie thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.
That's a big Twinkie.

If it's coming to the PSP I'll probably get that first and try it out. If I enjoy it I'll think about the Wii version.
This however, is entirely non-canon. It IS literally butchering the core story. It's purely obvious when Harry has a frickin Iphone.

What I love is that the Wiimake is OBVIOUSLY set in current times but if thats true it COMPLETELY fucks the timeline since the sequels are based off the first. So SH2-4 takes place in 2026?

Yeah, I could've swore SH1 took place way before Cell phones were popular...let alone ones with built in GPS.
And removing combat entirely? I must say I'm incredibly disappointed.

Vaco Deus - SH: SM occurs in an alternate universe. Just like with the movie, this game will not be a part of the main canon.

Ah, St. Aatos, but what if they stick to go with this. And ultimatley end up "reimagining" Silent Hill 2 & 3 in the same way? Ohgod, I hope they don't read that and get ideas. In the meantime, Deus, this is how I think you looked as you saw the news and laughed:

AHA!... "and the static noise comes out of the Wii remote speaker" Knew they would do that one!
No combat though? While I admit I did run from a lot of enemies (Resi instilled the whole ammo conservation thing in me), I sure am going to miss hitting things with a pipe. Makes me want to cry a little.

The whole ice thing is a nice change, but an incredibly obvious one. They really should have tried it out before now.
On the wii? No combat? The Silent Hill series has died a slow and horrible death. I don't even know why they still bother to point out that Akira Yamaoka is doing the soundtrack. We all know he'll be doing the soundtrack.
Reading about this game seems to have made my hangover worse.

Hahaha, KAOz, thats how I felt. It was sheer lunacy!
Out of the entire series, Silent Hill 2 is my favorite and has a special place in my heart. They shouldn't even attempt a remake of SH2. No way. I would be one sad person if they remade 2 and fuck it up (like they are with SH1)
Because thats the only thing the Silent Hill series has going for it! The music ;D *realizes the SH series is over* Aw, I made myself sad
EDIT The more I think about it I think I'd be more accepting if this was a new installment, not a rape of the first

The more I think about it I think I'd be more accepting if this was a new installment, not a rape of the first That's exactly how I feel. That's why I'm so 50/50 on this 'reimagining'. The concepts are brilliant and sound very intriguing. I WANT to play a Silent Hill like this and VERY badly. Except it's entirely wasted on 'reimagining' the first game! What the hell! Use these ideas for a new game! If you're going to remake the first one REMAKE IT, not rape and pillage the original because they're arrogant enough to mess with it.

Perhaps the development team behind Shattered Memories misunderstood the fans when we said we wanted a remake of Silent Hill. If this is the case, I certainly hope a few of the team members are reading this thread, and especially this post because I am about to spell it out plain and simple for them:
What we said was "We would like a next-gen version of Silent Hill, with updated graphics and controls, smoother, less stilted dialogue, and maybe some extra unlockable goodies."
What we certainly did not say was "Take this precious, beloved game that means so much to so many people and is a landmark of the survival horror genre, and violently fuck it every whichway like it's just won a date with Pyramid Head."
I don't understand how they could possibly confuse one with the other, but I hope this clears things up.
