I woulden't of been been that bothered that Isaac clarke speaks now if it wasn't for the fact that he never felt the need to speak before. So what, he's a snobby bastard and coulden't give a toss about his last team to care to talk to them or something? you have to be a member of the space engineer's guild before he even thinks of addressing you?

^ that can simply be addressed with a single line of dialogue. 'Hey Issac, hows your new tounge feel'

^ Seconded. Not quite sure how I feel about a second game, that enemy over there is laugh worthy, might be scary if a ton of them assaulted you but otherwise? .... meh. Still, probably going to get it anyway

going around the scene, it does look like there are a few of them.
First i saw of the scene was a screen cap on joystiq, and i though Issac looked off. the whole scene looked a little cartoon-ey. and not in a good way. Honestly, i'm really starting to think you shouldn't be playing as Issac. He should be a offsider, support threw the comms radio for the new characters. Although, i'm also thinking he should speak with one of them electric voice boxes people put on there throats use. giving it a distinctly inhuman sound.

Haha, I like the idea of him sounding like a throat cancer person ;D I think the game looks fine. The screenie is in a church like setting. Or maybe Isaac found his way aboard one of those Unitology Burial Ships

Apparently, Dead Space 2 is going to be less about the horror, more about the action and widespread appeal. Industry Gamer
IG: Tell me a little about your next big project in Dead Space 2. NE: We've got two main teams; we've got some supporting content for Dante's Inferno coming out, but we'll mostly shift our attention to Dead Space 2. The first one was well received, and we want to take advantage of that start with something that has tremendously wide appeal. We're more focused on the action than the horror this time. We're more empowering to the player. We've got a lot of feature innovation and we feel comfortable because we have something with resonance and we have something that's so capable
Its a little worrying, since i felt the first game empowered the player a bit too much. They kepy talking up that your not this soldier, but this engineer making do with what he can get. Outside of the Plasma Cutter(Hell, even that), everything else seemed like a standard Space Marine Weapon. That aparently you can buy at the shops.

I thought the only traditional weapons in the first were the Assault Rifle and the Flamethrower.
Cutter, Circular saw thrower thing, line cutter all seemed 'mine-y' and appropriate for a mining ship.
So....after one game they're going the RE4/5 route?
Son of a bitch
I'll give it a chance though since first one was in my top 20

That almost all but seals the deal on Dead Space 2 for me. I agree with Pac, I didn't feel very vulnerable in the first game, and that's actually half the reason I didn't like the game as much as most other people did. People were making it out to be this desolate, truly frightening experience. And it really wasn't. It was Resident Evil 4 in space.
Recently I can only really think of one, maybe two to three horror games that have got the feeling of being just an average joe stuck in a shitty situation right. Haunting Ground, The Resident Evil Outbreak series, Condemned (And even then you're an agent, but still not a commando.), Silent Hill Shattered Memories and that's about it.
I'm sick to death of action heavy horror games. There can be a line, I thought Homecoming was a good line. The character's combat prowess made some sense, and I thought it worked fairly well. Same with Condemned.
The last few Resident Evil games have been fun, I had an absolute blast with 4, but still they're hardly horror games. Screw this man...screw this.

So what, that means you'll probably die every 3 minutes and hit a check point every 1 and a half minutes? Disappointing. But then, everything they've released so far probably hasn't had the kind of effect it should have. That initial artwork from the game informer magazine was kinda cool though.

double post, but i bring news from Kotaku. EA plans Dead Space 2 for quarter 1 2011?and, could Dead Space Extraction be making its way onto the PSN and Live Arcade? more at 11. and since i don't bother to actualyl update this post at 11, they also mention a 'planet cracker' game, described as a sort of resouce management game, that would also have you protecting your hard earned resources from... space pirates! really kinda sick of Space Pirates, how about Space Ninjas.

Some details and gameplay footage coming out of PAX-east this weekend it seems. Over at Kotaku i saw a article make mention of using the Dismemberment system to the next level. As in, Shoot of a limb, and then with the marvelous technology of Telekinesis, re attach the limb, through there chest! Secondly, footage from the PAX panenl. I haven't watched the panel stuff, i saw another link i can no longer find that was just 30 seconds of in game footage recorded off a screen. The footage seems to show Issac on a out of control train, and propelling him self with his iron man boot to another train and shoot him sum Nerco scum.
