Dead Space 2 talk seems to be coming out more frequently now. couple of days ago their was word advertinsing for Multiplayer programmers for it.
Not 100% sold on a sequel. I didn't think the first was anything too special. Still, it was one of the better horror titles released in the last few years. And the competition was some series heavyweights.

I agree pretty much with Pac. But at the same time, I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel. I'm on of the weirdos here that actually LIKED SH Homecoming, and I liked it more than Dead Space.
None the less, Dead Space was far from a bad game. Wondering how the wii one is. It's on sale for 20 bucks black friday at my work. Considering picking it up.

I used to flock to RE for my scares, then it was SH, now its.....Fatal Frame? I dunno, the new one ain't coming stateside.
Anywho. I LOVED the first Dead Space. I thought it was one of the better IPs from last year. I thought it was what RE5 shoulda been.
Now thats not to say I didn't enjoy RE5, I was just disappointed that it was nothing but pure action as apposed to the fear and isolation that the first 3 portrayed.
DS had a great and deep Mythos with Unitology and the Marker.
Multiplayer? Meh, never been one for it.
I've heard nothing but positive things for DS on the Wii. I watched the review on GameTrailers and it seemed decent enough

RE5 was nothing but an action romp, I totally agree with that. Hell RE4 was really. But I did quite enjoy both. But yeah, not all that horror oriented.
Dead Space was the best NEW horror IP last year for sure, in fact probably the best in a few years. Another one worth noting though, and I think it's from this year is Cryostasis.
I love multiplayer, but I love it in a game it was geared toward, like Call of Duty. Now every game comes out with it, Bioshock, Dead Space, Condemned, etc. All of those games I'd have rather had as a strictly single player focused affair.
Speaking of Condemned, that's my favorite newer horror IP. I'd love to see a Condemned 3.

I think, the only way mutliplayer could work in a horror Game, is co-op where the players would constantly need to split up to complete objectives. In something like Dead Space, it could be going to two secure rooms in different parts of the station to open a locked door, or one player would have to guard the other while there using the manual astroid cannon or whatever.

Co-Op is fine in horror, well not always, but it can work.

Not a big fan of the mute character myself. I mean, it would totaly kill the atmosphere of Issac was dropping one liners and zinger comments like Nathan Drake, but they can end up feeling like a bit of a mindless drone if they don't give the character some personality. If there going to keep him a mute, i hope there are some parts where they'll take controle away from you (without making it look like a cut scene) to give the character more of a personality.

*shudders* i can see it now, Issac shoots the legs off a necromoph Issac : Bam, Kitty got wet. Issac follows this up by removing its head. Issac : too bad buddy, you gotta be this high to go on the shuttle launch ride. I like the way they've handled Link in the Legend of Zelda games. He dosent say anything, but you get a expression/reaction from him pretty often. Issac you hardly saw the front of his body untill the last 2 minutes of the game. edit: Kotaku has a piece of concept art up. Think we'll spend a bit of time Planet side this time?

New details about DS2 It'll take place on one of Saturn's moon on a base called Sprawl kotaku.com/5423127/dead-space-2-multiplayer-bigger-world-space+floatingEDIT Some extra tidbits. Sprawl is built on and around the REAMAINS of one of Saturns moon. That moon was the first planetcrack performed. Clarke will have a voice Too bad bad they didn't choose the Metroid/Zelda route There are different themed areas of Sprawl: public spaces, living quarters, businesses, government, etc. There will also be multiplayer.
