The town is so large that you can use a subway system to travel between focal points There will be sidequests Fights are to be avoided and weapons deteriorate Boss fights contain quicktime events Water is an important part of the game, even being a major theme in the Otherworld New area of the map Southeast of Toluca Lake will be explored. Series mainstays such as hospitals and schools will not return Puzzles will contain their own difficulty setting

As usual I'm hyped, maybe because I'm one of the few persons who actually enjoyed Homecoming.
Anyway, too little info to make any kind of opinion, but the creatures are lacking...."charm".

I'm not feeling enthusiastic about the quick time events. I don't find mashing buttons fun. I'm also a little apprehensive about excluding schools and hospitals. Most fans expect those in a Silent Hill game.
That being said, I like the graphics and the screenshots display an eerie enough atmosphere. I'm just praying they don't go for the over-the-shoulder camera angle again. I'm beginning to miss the old school long shots.

Subways? Does this mean SH is going to be the hub level and you're going to neighbouring towns via subway? That's even lore-friendly.
The mere mention of puzzle difficulty deserves a fucking yee-haw!
I dig the atmosphere and style, and so far it looks promising. As long as they keep away from anything like Homecoming.

Does that mean the lake monster is back?!? Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water... Water is an important part of the game, even being a major theme in the Otherworld

If the quick time events are done correctly and only in boss battles, no problem for me. Yes, I too miss the weird and cinematographic camera angles of the first ones!

The idea of a subway system and sidequests makes it sound more open-world, which I might like for a SH game. I don't think I'll mind the quicktime events if they somehow use the enviroment around the enemy to defeat it, or perhaps escaping the boss at the last second somehow. But if they use quicktime events for actually using a normal weapon agaginst the boss and turning him into SuperMurphey or Kratos or something I'll be pissed.

Sounds pretty good to me. Breakable weapons are kind of a pain, but whatever. Quicktime events, likewise, kind of suck, but I don't think these things will ruin the game or anything.

Just finished reading this, as I got that Game Informer in the mail, and it sounds amazing. The only thing I don't like the sound of is the breakable weapons, but if the game is great, I don't even care.
I was pretty hardcore in Shenmue when it was new, and it more or less invented the QTE. So I'm pretty used to them. And it had some HARD ones.

So far i think it's looking pretty good, definitely like the return of proper puzzles and difficulties! also like the way that the environments can change angle, ala SH2 yay!! Gotta say that i do like QTE in some games like RE4 & GoW but you gotta admit that it suits the more action oriented type of games- (& yeah i do class RE as more of a fast paced actioner these days but that's going off topic) -than the deep psychological horror titles like SH- (erm, i can't actually think of any other deep psychological games other than Silent Hill:/ Fatal Frame maybe? hmmm)- don't see how it's gonna keep with the feel of the classic claustrophobic labrynthian terror that i love in the Team Silent games!! Just don't like the words “Quick Time Events” & “Action” being used in regards to my beloved SH, spesh in boss battles!!! Would be better used as part of the puzzle element perhaps? But we'll just have to wait and see how it is implemented in this game. On a plus though, i am thrilled about the subway idea of interconnecting distant areas- (possibly visiting new border town areas too) -and i hope Toluca lake is explored abit more both in game and story wise. Just hope the plot is unexpected though, please don't let it be that Murphy drowned a pregnant woman and then her baby unknown to him is after revenge or something like that!!! Just kinda got that from the foetus in the window and the water element of the game!! Let's hope i'm wrong eh!!
