Honestly I'm looking forward to the movie. Seriously, what other horror movie has half as decent a plot as the first movie did? You guys gotta look at it as a standalone. It didn't really adapt the first game, it's a similar, but different plotline with the character roles shuffled. If people didn't try and compare it to the games more people would see them for the awesomeness they are -though obviously SHR hasn't been released yet. It looks interesting based on trailers. Not sure I get who Heather is though. Isn't Heather Adelaide Clemens? The chick from the trailers doesn't look like Adelaide Clemens. Whatev... I find out what's up when the movie comes out. Besides that, chill out. You guys sound like you're all gonna stroke out. If that happened I'd be all alone... well Mr. Worncoat would still be here, but everyone else....

Don't remember seeing this, but i was just at a poster site, and typed in Silent hill (for what ever reason) and one of the links it came up with was this. not sure if its legit or not Edit: Yeah, apparently not Oh, so it's not real? Okay. Kinda disappointed, kinda not. I like the whole "deal with it" message, it would fit well, and give it a slightly more serious tone then what I've been getting this whole time. Speaking of tone, I just realized in looking through the pics in the thread which one is suppose to be Claudia. Silly, slow little me. I hope nobody minds a greivance, because, uh, yeah, don't much care for what they did to Claudia. She's suppose to have that "creepy-but-i-don't-know-why" look. Instead, and no insult to the actor, but that nose.. she looks like a witch. Seriously. That nose bothers me. Such a stupid complaint, right? Still, it just really, really bothers me that the subtle strangeness of Claudia has been traded in for a white-robed witch. If that happened I'd be all alone... well Mr. Worncoat would still be here, but everyone else.... That sounds like fun. You. Me. Silent Hill. Alone. Forever.. Do you like Scrabble?

My family's full of Scrabble junkies. Now that you mention it, that doesn't sound so bad. I hope you're bringing drinks. I'll bring the chips.

Honestly, no matter how apprehensive I am about another SH movie, I am happy they are making one. At least there is the chance that there could be a good SH movie. And I mean if it sucks, I never have to watch it again.
I will however be going alone to this one. Last time I went with a bunch of friends who knew I'm a SH fan, and had to answer questions about how much I liked it etc, and I was too busy sifting through emotions to want to talk to anyone.
This time I'm gonna wait till it's almost out of theaters (yeah right) and go to the latest showing possible. There are some really really nice theaters in my area with recliners and beer etc. I'll start with one beer, and if the movie really sucks, I'll just get more drinks. Then I'm going to come on here and give my drunken review of the movie.

I honestly love the pics and such that I've seen. Basset also seems to have a pretty damn good idea about what he's trying to do with this movie. He's also fairly communicative.
If anything the first cut just shows that there's been some pretty good progress and we should be expecting a decent trailer in the coming months.
Plus Adelaide is so damn gorgeous. She'll definitely be worth the ticket price alone~

Alright, Finally, a Teaser Poster. So, It looks kinda crap, for a teaser poster. Wish it was more of a character poster. If they've got a few monsters in the film, i think maybe they should have a series of character posters. Heather, Vincent, 'Harry' and then a monster or two.

Pyramid Head Poster care of bloody disgusting. Is it just me, but is his helmet different? I haven't watched the original in awhile. Apparently, they did another one of those 'make your own posters' competitions. can't remember where i saw that though.

I hated the Silent Hill movie for a very Long time (I guess you could say more or less since it came out). But after having watched it again with someone totally unfamiliar to the franchise, and having given it a chance through the eyes of someone else, I think I'm ready not to hate it. It's not Silent Hill, hell, it Bastardizes Silent Hill, but it's a damn tense movie and it does what it does beautifully. So I think I'm about ready to appreciate it for what it is.
And just in time for the Sequel. What I know of Micheal Basset and what he's said has certainly reassured me. It's clear that he is absolutely a fan. Is he a fan to our extent? Who knows. At least he knows what he's talking about this time. But simultaneously... how good of a thing is it?
I guess the question you have to ask yourself is this: Would you rather have an less-inspired Fan directing a movie with an almost religious respect for the source material (Example: The Watchmen movie)... or would you rather have a Legitimate Artist who considers the source material to be, instead of that, merely 'Inspiration'? Either way, the Studio is going to demand stupid things of them (Example: Babyface romantic interest Vincent, direct Sequel). It's like choosing between SH: Origins and SH: Shattered Memories.

ohh, seems fine, im so happy to see the serires live on! might bring in more fans and thus more games I don't know how sure I am that Another Movie bringing in more Fans and thus more Games would be good for the Franchise, in that particular order. A friend of mine played SH2 in the HD collection with me a little bit ago. He knew of the Movie and considered it good (and scary, of course), but I had to twist his arm to get him to play the game, a bit - possibly just because he's flighty, but all the same. He couldn't put SH2 down once he picked it up (for Obvious reasons, sure, but it was still... gratifying to know that so regular a dude could be as enraptured by that game as any of us). He almost walked away from the TV to get a drink halfway through THAT cutscene (the one in the Hotel, you know), and I had to drag him back in to watch it. He got the In Water ending, which surprised me - he's usually very Conservative when it comes to Video game play styles. But the point of this Diatribe is this - after having played the whole thing, and sat in stunned, amazed silence through all of Mary's letter and all of about ten minutes after it, he made a proclamation - "I think maybe Silent Hill isn't just a Regular Evil town, it just reflects a person's inner torment back at them!" No s--t, man. You don't say? These fans brought in from the Movies will have virtually no clue what Silent Hill is about, will they? They won't have the SLIGHTEST insight into the Psychological aspect, and they certainly won't be looking for that in future games. With an influx of those kinds of Gamers, who do you think Developers will try to please? The clutch of Old faithfuls who were depressed by Silent hill FOUR for God's sake (Sterling in comparison, even to you doubters, I'm sure, against Homecoming or it's ilk)? Or this new Movie Crowd that's turned on by the Nurses and will simply refuse to look at a SH game that doesn't feature Pyramid Head prominently? Yes, it is games much like Homecoming that these new fans will be demanding, and I am sure that, if the Businessmen smell Money, it is what they will get. And what will we get? Nothing. Just take a Look at this new Halloween Horror Nights affair, or whatever it's called. A Haunted Cornmaze in Orlando with Nurses and Pyramid Head thrown in so that they can slap the 'Silent Hill' Brand name on it to make more money. I have nothing against Haunted Houses and they can be great fun, but personally I'm not interested in exploring 'Silent Hill' in person unless it's My inner subconscious being shown, not The simplest view of a Dying franchise. It's this attitude, this Trend, that's allowing Silent Hill games that lack a legitimate inspiration, a real reason to be, that seems to make everything they release a... disappointment. Perhaps this is a bit off topic, sorry. But my point is, if they keep making Popcorn movies and attractions out of Silent Hill, summer blockbusters and cash cows, If they turn it into the Saw Franchise with Monsters or something like that, then... how are we ever going to get back from that? How are we going to keep hoping for another good thing? That seems to be the only thing left to the Silent Hill Franchise: Hope for a Miraculous good thing.

I will watch it no matter what. Will certainly have to reign in my expectations a bit. The first one was a little bit of a let down because I probably expected so much. Hate the inclusion of Pyramid head yet again. But as it's movie SH they can just about get away with using him outside of James. As it is after all a different PH.
Just hope my lousy cinema shows it. They didn't show Dredd in 2D and that irritated me no end.
