Keeping things updated here. The Illusionsist (2010) was charming and depressing. Its a very muted film, that really follows the idea of showing and not telling you things. I don't know if its intentional, or because there were no subtitles to it. I suppose most of the characters don't seem to speak the same language so we have to understand things through body language and actions. But it was pretty cool. I dig the French animation style going on here, its got so much character even before the characters start to move. I liked it alot. Damn near bought the dvd when i saw it on the shelf at the import store near the cinema.
Win Win Pretty a typical family-ish drama. People make mistakes/lie and the beginning of the film, build a relationship, comes back to bite them in the ass later on. Nice performances though, and it got some good laughs out of the audience. But its nothing special.
Limitless saw this on dvd recently. Nice concpet, but the film started to go down hill about half way through it, and then the ending was just crap. Too heavy on the narration as well.

The Whole Ten Yards (2004) It's nice to see comedy when comedy was actually funny -like Friday... or Happy Gilmore. Keeping things updated here. The Illusionsist (2010) was charming and depressing. Its a very muted film, that really follows the idea of showing and not telling you things. I don't know if its intentional, or because there were no subtitles to it. I dig the French animation style going on here, its got so much character even before the characters start to move. I liked it alot. Watched the first season of Six Feet Under on, wait for it . . . VHS! I didn't even know they made VHS box sets! Anyway, it's quirky, strange, emotionally draining, and surprisingly funny. I'm glad I've seen it. My favorite episode was "The Room" followed by maybe the Pilot. I like a lot of the characters, but not the mom, or Billy. I think I watched it all too fast though, it got a little tiring. 8/10

Warrior I've been looking forward to this since i saw a trailer for it, must have been 6 months ago. And the only thing i can say disappointed me about the film was that i'd seen the trailer. F'king trailer gives away too much of the film, robbing several of the fights of any tension. It's pretty formulaic too, but then again, its a sports film they tend to be. Cast give solid performance, walking away from it, i wasn't all that thrilled with Tom Hardy's. But the more I think about it, the more i realise it was pretty good. He's sort of just this big mound of Muscle and Anger. Most of his fights don't seem that technical. Where's Joel Edgerton's got a much easier job winning your sympathy, its a much easier roll to play, but his fights are brutal, and he often looks like he's about to combust.
Drive Speaking of brutal, Drive seems like a nice little character drama up until about the last act, where shit gets messed up. It almost feels like another film bursts out from beneath it. I think it had a real 80's vibe to it's style. But it was a pretty good film still. Ryan Gosling raelly is a great actor, and managed to work a heap into a scene without saying alot. Don't know if i'll ever watch it again though.
I'm sure there's another film or two i haven't listed here. Like Pina, Crazy Stupid Love and something else. But i can't remember it right now.

Watched Season One of The X Files on DVD. Good show. My favorite episodes were Ghost in the Machine and Young at Heart. I also liked Pilot and Darkness Falls. My favorite moment was Mulder's speech at the end of Conduit. Mulder's a great character Also, after seeing space, I love yelling IT LIIIIIIVED IN MEEEEEE! when I'm alone. The show could be boring sometimes, and few episodes were more than just merely good, but this isn't considered the best season anyway, and the episodes are very rewatchable. 7.5/10
Also, Season Two of Six Feet Under. Not as good as the first season, felt rather tiring and rarely felt like much was progressing. I loved the end of the Christmas episode though, and I still like the show. 6/10
EDIT
Also, here's a list of my top 11 TV characters (couldn't leave it at 10):
1. Homer Simpson (The Simpsons) 2. Alan Shore (Boston Legal) 3. George Castanza (Seinfeld) 4. Tohru Honda (Fruits Basket) 5. Haruka (Noein: To Your Other Self) 6. Momiji (Fruits Basket) 7. Jose (Gunslinger Girl) 8. Roger (American Dad) 9. Lord Dio (Last Exile) 10. Izzy (Digimon) 11. Sakaki (Azumanga Daioh)

Good list. I can't stand George Castanza/Larry David, and Jason Alexander as a result. He really embodied that character well. I still want to hit him with a shovel though.
I've seen a heap of films since i last posted, but i'll keep a run down of the ones in cinemas this past few weeks.
We Bought a Zoo - Paint by numbers, nothing too special, very little character development and things were always going to end the way they end. Score was alright, bit over bearing at points, and now that i think about it, there wasn't enough animals in the story.
Happy Feet Two - Didn't have to pay for the tickets when there was a mix up at the box office with my Tin Tin Tickets (still haven't seen it). Again nothing special, Animation and the scale of it was kind of impressive.
Casablanca - Way cool seeing this in Cinema with an audience of film lovers. Such a great film.
The Maltese Falcon - was part of a double feature, and i hadn't seen this one before. Bogey smiles/smirks in this way too much, its creepy.
War horse - Interesting story, and the horse itself gives a great performance. It actually looks quite emotional at points.
The Skin I live in - Enjoyed this one, not sure what to actually think of it past that. Most of the characters its hard to be sympathetic with. But all the same, its interesting to see how the story turns out though, even if parts of it are obvious well before they're revealed.
And that's all since Boxing Day. Looking to see a couple more before i go back to work on Monday.

I watched Captain America. I'm not sure if I over hyped myself but I struggled to watch it and had to come back another time to finish it. Glad I did. But it felt like a movie of two halfs.

Alright, i really need to get my wireless keyboard set up again. I've got a new laptop stand, and the keyboard kinda moves, and i seem to be hitting things i don't mean to hit.
But now, on topic, i saw Melancholia and Chronicle at cinema's today, and watched 50/50 on dvd.
Melancholia is a depressing freak in film, but it has some brilliant art direction. And that's without considering Kirsten Dunst gets her kit off. I was a little disappointed that the first half of the film introduces about a dozen characters, and then doesn't even mention them in the second half of the story. I can see how this polarised critics, I'd say its good without being great, but i couldn't pin point exactly what was wrong with it, or what was great about it (other then the art direction).
Chronicle was so much better then I expected. Really well handled, although, there was a few points in the final action sequence where it felt like it abanded the 'found footage' format to get close up shots of the characters (They sort of explain it at one point why there is, but then then do it again later and it didn't make sense). I like that even though the trailers really do seem to show a lot, its more about the character journey. Dane DeHaan (Andrew) really impressed me, and I look forward to seeing him in something else, where he's not a whiny teen.
50/50 was great, and really emotional. and that surprised me for a 'cancer' movie. I don't normally get so involved or caught up in the characters, but I found my self on the verge of tears a few times. Joe Gordon Levitt really did deliver a great performance, and the Character didn't feel too far removed from his one in 500 days of summer (then again, could be said for most nice guy roles). Really glad i picked this up *import*
I got Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy aswell, but thats for tomorrow night.
Oh, and HUGO , saw that a few weeks ago, then i saw it again maybe 3 days later. Had i seen it in 2011, would have easily been film of the year for me. was just magic.

Watched The X Files: Season Two on DVD. Liked it just slightly better than the first season. It was more different than I expected (I get the feeling they didn't know they'd be around for nine seasons at this point) but about the same level of quality. There were more very good episodes this time around, though the bad ones were very bad. My favorites were The Host, Duane Barry, Ascension, and End Game. My least favorites were Sleepless (SO boring), Excelsis Dei (the old people one), and Anasazi (very overrated). I also found One Breath overrated and Humbug not my style, but thought several other episodes were quite good. Didn't think there was much great after End Game though. Overall: 7.6/10
Also, I've watched the first half of season three and I don't feel like I'm enjoying it as much as the first two seasons. I also bought the first season of Star Trek The Next Generation and am enjoying it greatly (the knowlege that it's considered the worst season is helping a lot with that).
And of course, another list (hope I haven't posted it before).
My top 10 movies: 1. The Brave Little Toaster 2. The Shining 3. A Boy Named Charlie Brown 4. Kiki's Delivery Service 5. Babe 6. The Fox and the Hound 7. Spider-Man 3 (I know, I know) 8. Ratatouille 9. The Dark Knight 10. Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

The Woman In Black.
It's surprisingly scary. Not, shit your pants scary, but it had me on the edge of my seat. The ending seemed a little rushed, but I don't feel like I wasted my money, and for a 12 rated movie, it was bloody freaky.
A decent watch.

The girl with a dragon tattoo - pretty awesome movie. It had some cringe worthy scenes in it but aside from that the story was very well paced, I didn't even noticed the two hours pass by watching it.
The Ruins - actually a nice horror flick but I cannot say why ... it's silly and it's downright stupid at some points but over all it was pretty nice.
Went to the cinema recently to see Ghost Rider 2. I was somewhat hyped for it, figured it would be an action packed sequel and that was good enough for me since I'm no comic fan anyway but what I saw was complete and utter rubbish. That movie is just all over the place: there's shitloads of useless dialogue going around coupled with some weird ass psycho moments from the rider himself (at one point he levitates and spins in the air .... WTF!) I figure those were meant to represent his psychotic rider that he is surprising but it just looked fucked in the worst way. Very disappointed by that one ... the first movie looks miles ahead of the second, the only really cool thing in the second one was the Rider's suit, it looked much gruffer and darker.

The Swedish version of the Millenium Trilogy (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) was pretty awesome. I highly recommend it if you don't mind subtitles or can speak Swedish. I saw Hugo recently and was very much (I guess charmed is the right word) by it. It reminded me of how I saw movies when I was little. The Hogfather was pretty good too. The second half is far faster paced and much more entertaining, but the whole of it was pretty good. Really looking forward to The Dark Knight Rises this summer... it's gonna be awesome....
